Will You Accept Shannon's Recap: Katie Thurston's First Night and First Date Reviews!

Alright I'm a fan of the Bachelorette franchise so I wanted to do a little recap... especially this season because I think I like it so far. It's... a little dull but I like Katie and I love Tayshia and Kaitlyn as hosts of the show. I'm going to kind of break things down as easily as I can!

Why I like Kaitlyn and Tayshia as Hosts:

I'm not a fan of Chris Harrison. He handled the events of the Rachel Kirkconnel Matt James controversy very poorly and I'm happy he's not on the show anymore. I don't think I'd be able to watch the show the same way with Harrison after he did that interview. He was wrong... and I don't care if "Ohhh but its tradition." or "Ohhh but the guys on the show can talk to him." What about the women of the show? What about the POC cast that feel uncomfortable with his presence... no. They can get other people. And I think Tayshia and Kaitlyn did a good job. They're doing good supporting Katie and they're just having fun. They've both gone through the process... and it worked for Tayshia and it sort of worked for Kaitlyn... so they can give some good thoughts on it. Plus it's so cute to see them matching Katie and when they watched Katie with the popcorn... it was cute.

It's nice to have a woman there with some advice too.

Likes and Dislikes about Katie as Bachelorette

So Overall I like Katie as the Bachelorette... I think she's really fun. There are some things I kind of don't like but overall I like The Bachelorette more than The Bachelor to begin with... and I think her season is really good so far.

Katie is a little more fun than your typical bachelorette. She wasn't just into the super super hot guys. All of them are actually pretty hot... but she couldn't stop thinking about the guy in the Cat Costume Night one... and Kaitlyn and Tayshia were like "ohh... alright..." And I think she was totally going to give him the first impression rose... and then she kissed him... and the kiss did not look that great. I might get into more of that when I get to the men because it's their problem and I don't want to put this on Katie... when really it's the men and it's production.

What I don't like about Katie is just that we never really got to know her on Matt James' season. We liked her- sure. She was "Sex Positive" which... ugh that phrase is just annoying me at this point... I'll get to that in a bit too... But... I wish that they maybe gave her a story on Bachelor in Paradise before making her The Bachelorette. It's like with Tayshia- we did get to know her on Colton's Season of The Bachelor... but we got to see her fun side on Bachelor in Paradise and that's what made me like her more once she became The Bachelorette. So I kind of wish Katie had had that too. I guess we learned enough about her... but I still don't think this was really the right time for Katie.

Excited to see her and that we're getting 2 seasons of The Bachelorette but... yeah.

The Men...

Okay so let's get into what I like and Dislike about the men. I think next season of the bachelorette I'm going to actually take notes of who each guy is and how they entered and I'll put that in the recap... but for now... let's just talk about some of them.

Overall it seems like a good cast... but I think they're all just a little too thirsty. I feel like because Katie came in with the vibrator... they're maybe acting more sexually charged then they would for someone like Becca or Tayshia or Kaitlyn. Maybe because of the sex date... but the entrances are also... ugh.

Like the uhh... toy that Cody brought in on his entrance I thought was kind of... stupid. He just kind of copied exactly what Katie did on her entrance but he made it seem like he was SoOoOo clever. I just... no I'm glad she sent him home. I think I would have sent him home night 1. I'm hoping he won't go to Paradise. Also his job is a Zipper Sales Person... so I'm glad he didn't come in with a bunch of zippers and business cards like The Box Guy from Hannah Brown's season (who I think was only there to sell his boxes.) But... yeah.

Speaking of jobs and people that got sent home already... The Surgical Skin Salesman... That's a scary sounding job title. I shouldn't joke about this because he was from NJ and I guess if I ever need a surgery for new skin in NJ... I'll probably have to go to this guy... but maybe I'll move if I need new skin cause... he's not the person I'd trust for buying skin. He came in with the Camper... which could have won me over... but his approach to getting her into the camper was weird and he didn't clean the camper beforehand... his game was a bit weak and Katie was not having it.

Cat Guy Connor... I like him. I think he could be in the top 6. He's really funny- does not take himself too seriously. He also posted on instagram that he is wearing an anklet during the whole season with the Transgender flag on it to support his sister Dierdre who is Trans. So that's really sweet for him to be doing something to support trans rights.

Andrew S is who Bachelor Fantake thinks will end up with Katie... that's what I'm hoping for because she really seems to like him and he seems like a sweet guy and he's really cute.

Christian and Justin... might be who I think are the hottest of the season. I also think Justin is kind of funny- like with his one liners during Karl's nearly 20 minute segment during the "sex Positive" themed group date. Christian I want to get to know more... he's cute. I hope he goes to Paradise.

Karl is a jerk. His whole performance during that date was apparenly 18 minutes... and it was just bad. And then he lies to Katie saying "Ohhh I don't want to accuse anyone of being here for the wrong reasons. But someone here is here for the wrong reasons. I have no proof." Don't believe him Katie!

And Greg… I know everyone likes... and I don’t dislike him… but I think he would rather be the bachelor than be with Katie… soooo… I’m a little iffy on him. Maybe not… but I think he’ll be in the running if he doesn’t end up with Katie.

The Entrances were all okay. I kind of thought Tre with the ball pit was weird… but he was pretty cute with it. Andrew D’s accent was pretty bad and it didn’t fool Katie which is why I think you can tell she likes him. The Box guy is still there… so I guess that’s good.

I’m also sooo upset Bao is not on this season… I really hope he comes back for someone… but I think if you’re on a show and Bao is on… you’re dumb if you don’t choose Bao.

Also I’m excited to see Blake from Tayshia’s season back soon. I liked him a lot and I think he and Katie can be good together! Ohhh also the Virgin guy on the show… I think he’s a good guy. I’m upset that the show is going to exploit his personal choice best they can. I also think it’s important that it’s a part of Sex Positivity to be okay dating a virgin.

Soo Sex Positivity… kind of loses its meaning through the show. And I don’t think it just means being okay telling the world you have a toy, I don’t think it’s just Katie wearing a “No fake orgasms” t shirt… I feel like the fact of them having her okay talking about sex is fine… the way they’re doing it just kind of negates everything though.
