Why February is the REAL best month for New Years Resolutions
So here's why I don't really get harsh on my New Year's resolutions until February.
1)Short Months Make it Easy to Start Habits
So I always like shorter months because it's easier to do something for 30 days- or 15 days if you do it every other day. There's just something about doing something for 31 days straight that's a little intimidating. Having it as just 28 or 29 days makes things a little bit easier to keep track of. It's easy to do something every day or every other day for the month if you have a day or 3 less to do something every day.
2) January is a good month to "get your act together" before starting your resolutions for real
If you need to rearrange your house or move shelves or something before you get to your resolutions- take your time with it. We usually keep our Christmas Tree up for most of January anyway so- its hard to get stuff done when the Christmas tree is still up. Just kind of take your time doing whatever you need to do to get started: Then start!
3) Goal Setting can happen any month- by starting the first month of the year- that kind of puts too much pressure on it.
This is really important I think. You don't want to put too much pressure on yourself for your goal setting... really you can set goals any month- you can set your own deadlines for the most part. Everything is up to you - take time to actually enjoy things as well as setting goals.
4) You Can always change and adjust your goals
So my New Years Resolution is to read 100 pages a day... I haven't started yet and I think I can start this month. I don't have a goal of the amount of books I'd like to read... but I Might be able to set that in June or July when I'm at the halfway mark (since I'm starting in February July would be the real halfway mark)
5) If you don't start your resolutions till February- you'll probably stick to them through February
A lot of New Years Resolutions get broken by February- so if you don't start until February you're ahead of the game. Plus you'll have an extra month to kind of prepare and get ready.
Alright that is everything and why this blog will likely be more consistent for the month!
Bye!
