What I Watched in February
Hey guys! I'm going to give you my letterboxed recap of what I watched in February! Lots of random movies... and I liked some of them... some were okay,
The First movie I watched this month was Nicky Deuce... this was a Nickelodeon Channel Movie- so it aired on tv... it stars Gibby from ICarly and the ENTIRE cast of Sopranos. I'm fairly certain the very creepy Dan Schneider wrote it... I actually enjoyed this movie. This was one of the last appearances from James Gandolfini. I've been watching The Sopranos lately- so it was fun to see the cast in a comedy. I gave it 2 stars- I can't really recommend this one but definitely look up the James Gandolfini scene. That was comedy gold. And really if you do watch it or you like Sopranos... you won't be upset at it. It's not bad.
Next up is Elvis... this was a damn near perfect movie. I gave it 5 stars. I thought it was really a good story- I loved the music and Austin Butler was amazing.
The next movie I watched is a hidden gem- this one is on peacock and it's called Upgrade. I gave this 3 and a half stars. It was written by one of the cowriters of Saw- I think it was also produced by Jason Blum. It felt a little like M3gan, Saw, and John Wick all combined but it was also its own unique story and... it was scary but also really good. I also watched this and then threw up- this was during my Super Bowl Fever Dream... but yeah. I think they might be making a series on it. Check this one out for sure if you like sci fi.
Next up was The Brady Bunch Movie. I gave this 2 and a half stars. I think this is on Paramount Plus or Peacock. It's funny and silly but I didn't think it was as good as people say it is. Worth checking out if you've ever seen The Brady Bunch though.
Another 2 and a half stars Death To Smoochy. This is a movie where Robin Williams plays an actor on a Children's show who gets fired and replaced with the very wholesome Smoochy played by the most wholesome Edward Norton you will ever see. Again I can't really recommend this one- I don't really think people will like it that much and it was just weird. Robin WIlliams is not even in it that much... but Danny DeVito directed it and he's a damn good director. So this was a pretty good movie in my book for that alone.
Next I went to the movie theaters and watched Ant Man and The Wasp: Quantamania. This is a 3 and a half stars for me. Maybe that's a bit of a harsh rating considering that I really did like this movie... and today I saw another movie in theaters that I rated higher and... I'm not sure I can say I didn't like this movie as much... but I'll get to that when I get to that movie.
Next I watched the original Rocky. This is a classic but I don't know that its as good of a sports movie as people say it is. Creed is way more of a sports movie whereas Rocky is more Slice of Life. I gave this one 3 and a half also.
Next I rewatched Nope in 4K. It is a totally different movie when you see it a second time and I still give it 5 stars. That was my personal favorite movie of 2022.
Next back on the Robin Williams Train I saw Hook. This is 4 stars- I didn't grow up with this movie but it is still very nostalgic to me and such a great movie of its time. I love it!
Next up Action Jackson starring Carl Weathers. This is a cheesy action movie. This should have been a franchise. It was cool with really fun villains, interesting action and death scenes and a fun main character. 2 and a half stars for this one.
Next up was Pacific Rim. This is out of my comfort zone because it was my boyfriend's pick. I liked it and gave it 3 stars... it had a fun cast of characters, the villains were awesome and the woman in this movie was not a love interest. Overall I don't remember what happened or how it ended- but I enjoyed it.
Then today I watched Knock at The Cabin... which I actually think is a solid 4 star movie. I really enjoyed watching this. I thought there would be more of a twist because this is an M. Night Shymalon movie... but it pretty much just was what it was and I liked it for that a lot. I'll try to have a review on this tomorrow even though I think it might be almost out of theaters.
I also watched Aggretsuko, Shrinking and National Treasure: Edge of History, The Bachelor and The Sopranos. These were all really good. And are really good- I didn't finish all of them yet.
Bye!
-Shannon
