Throwback Thursday: Fall Out Boy From Under The Cork Tree

Alright... the album that started it all for me... My love of music is basically because of this... and I remember it just being the best fall out boy album.

So... it actually didn't turn out to be as good as I thought. There are 2 songs that I've kind of grown to like... but I always skipped them when I was initially listening to the album... and still I don't love them. And there are 3 songs that are all kind of similar sounding. And I'm not sure I love the first song that much... so overall even though I think this is a great album all around and I love the record... but overall I feel like this has the most songs that I don't like... but it also has some of my favorite songs... so... its a weird mix.

I think my favorite song from Fall Out Boy is probably Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner. It's kind of sad and intense... but it's really good and I've just always liked it. They have an Acoustic Album called My Heart Will Always Be The B Side of My Tongue- and they have an acoustic version- and they performed it accoustically live... great song.

The three songs I think sound exactly the same are all in a row... and those are 7 Minutes in Heaven, Sophomore Slump or Comeback of The year, and Champagne for My Real Friends Real Pain for my Sham Friends. I actually am not sure which song is which. I know one of them says "The best part of believe is the Lie" But... I can't tell you which of the three songs that is. They aren't bad songs... but all lumped in a row- I just don't think these songs are anyone's favorites. And they sound the same.

The two songs I don't like are I've Got a Dark Ally and a Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth and Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying. The Dark Ally song is just really slow and very sad and... if you're in the mood to cry of feel bad- this song might do the trick for you... but It's probably my least favorite song from Fall Out Boy. Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying actually isn't that bad... I think I've come around on that one a bit. Plus I like the poem at the end.... but really thats a song where I always liked the first half and then I just turned it off... but now I think I kind of like it.

I'm also not sure about the first song- Our Lawyers Made Us Change The Name of This Song. Idk- it's good and I used to like it... it makes sense to start the album. Kind of like these guys are just getting famous and here's what they're about... but it seems a little out of place.

I feel like songs like I Slept With Someone in Fall Out Boy and XO kind of make this album what it is and... it's kind of what I like about Fall Out Boy. These are kind of darker harder rock songs and... XO is just a good way to end the album. It's kind of sad- but kind of cool. You can kind of see the story play out and... it just makes sense. Especially with the line "Through the keyhole I watched you dress" because there's a keyhole on the album cover. It's really cool!

Oh and the record had bonus tracks! And they were all pretty good! I didn't love the remix of Dance Dance, but I do really like The Music or The Misery and My Heart is The Worst Kind of Weapon... overall I love the record even though this might have my least favorite songs on it... I still have really fond memories of listening to this album like every day my freshman year of high school... probably in 8th grade through my sophomore year too.

So that's it! I hope you guys like it!

Bye!

-Shannon
