Thrift Store Haul: I dropped some change with 26.57 in my pocket!
I haven't been to a thrift store in a while- I'm not like a crazy thriftier- I just like to go to thrift stores to look for DVDs and Books mostly. I feel like I scored pretty big this time!
First off was the dvds- there weren't a lot- but I did get The Skeleton Key... this is a really good horror movie that I vaguely remember and I didn't like the ending but I think about this movie a lot and I want to rewatch it. This stars Kate Hudson and I believe it's a New Orleans, Voodoo plot. I can't quite remember... but I liked it up until the end. I think the atmosphere is kind of cool and vibe-y. One of the main people smoked Black Cigarettes and even my grandparents were like "I've never seen black cigarettes before" so that was kind of cool. Not that smoking was cool- But it was vibe-y.
I also got Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I saw this movie in theaters also- But I know I was too young to really understand it and I would love to watch it again as an adult.
These are movies I wasn't exactly sure if I wanted to own- but they were both on sale and it was so cheap it was a great deal either way.
A lot of the things I got weren't on sale- But it was still a good deal. They usually have different tags and they'll have 25, 50 and 75 percent off depending on which color coordinates with the tag. Some tags weren't on sale- but I don't think I paid more than 4.99 for anything.
My big score was 3 books in the Outlander series. It was the first 2 and then I think the fourth one. These books are huge- I don't know about them- but I feel like I've heard about them on Booktok recently and I have a feeling the whole series could be expensive anywhere else... so I was happy!
I also got Anxious People by Frederick Bachman. I've heard a lot of good things about this book and this author- he also wrote A Man Called Ove and other books. The owner of Good Neighbor Books - who I follow on TikTok- really likes this author so I have to give this a read.
I got the Alex Trebeck Memoir! I'm excited about that one- this wasn't even on sale but I've wanted to read this since it's been released pretty much. I'm not that big on memoirs- but I love Alex Trebek so if I'm in the mood for one I'll read this for sure!
Every time I go into Barnes and Noble I see the book The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz and I've thought about getting it several times... and I haven't. And they just had it right there at the thrift store! I was pretty excited! I think I've heard mixed things about this book too so- that's something that's good to buy from a thrift store.
My Boyfriend also got 2 books. One was an X Files Book... I believe it was a novelization of an episode- but I don't quite remember the episode. We both really like The X Files.
He also got a book from the author of Tinker, Tailer, Solider Spy... which he was excited about.
Also I was off on the pricing- the most I paid for anything was 3.19! Only 4 of the books I got weren't on sale. I think it was probably the Alex Trebeck book, The Plot, the x files book maybe and probably the Frederick Bachman book? I don't really remember which tag wasn't the sale. All total we spent 26.57. An almost Macklemore level of success!
Bye!
