They Might Be Giants Concert Review and Is Particle Man The Greatest Song of All Time????

Okay- I haven't done one of these in a while... so to bring it back I'm going to do a unique experience with the song... and then I'll let you know if it's the best song of all time!

So last night I saw They Might be Giants in Philadelphia and I honestly don't know the band that well. I know they did the Malcom in The Middle song and I listened to the album Flood beforehand because I knew that was mostly what they would be playing since it's a 30th anniversary show for the album... which makes me 29 because the album came out in 1990. Don't question the math- I'm trusting They Might Be Giants... I'm only 29.

Anyway the song that really stuck out was a funny little song called Particle Man. It's pretty short and it's about different kinds of men. Triangle Man hates Person Man and they fight... it's a pretty cute song.

Anyway- Particle Man is like a big part of their shows- they play it during the second set and everyone really loves it. They even have a Triangle Man hat that my friend bought! Everyone loved the song, everyone was dancing along and singing along.

The cool thing is that they changed one of the Choruses to the song to something a little darker and crazier and I really liked it. It was different and I think the guys had fun singing to both versions of the song.

So everyone was having fun in the crowd, the band had a good time, the crowd had a great time, and my crew had an amazing time when they sang it too!

Why other people like it and why I like it

This is just an easy song to sing along to- it's fun to dance too... and overall it's just really really fun in general. It's one of the best songs I've heard live maybe... it's just fun.

Is It The Greatest Song of All Time??

I mean... I can't exactly put this one over Ziggy Stardust... and as music tastes seem to constantly change- I'm going to change my ranking just a bit...

Current ranking was

  1. Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie

  2. Praying by Kesha

  3. Superstition by Stevie Wonder

  4. Freebird by Lynard Skynard.

My last review was Praying and that's one that brings me to tears when I hear it in the right context so it's still a favorite song of mine... but it isn't my favorite Kesha song in general and when I hear it on the radio I don't have as much of a reaction... whereas I think I'd be more excited to hear Superstition in any context. And it is Friday the thirteenth tomorrow... so Superstion is up the list. And since I've seen Particle Man live and that's what I'm reviewing it from... I'm going to take that bias into consideration because this is my personal list so I'm definitely going to have a personal bias that matters.

Current Rank:

  1. Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie

  2. Superstion by Stevie Wonder

  3. Particle Man by They Might Be Giants

  4. Praying by Kesha

  5. Freebird by Lynard Skynard

And that is it for now! I think next I'll do a song from Electric Light Orchestra because I've been into them lately.

Bye!
