Alright- so Roku Tv created a Weird Al Biopic starring Daniel Radcliffe and... I was pretty excited about it. I am a fan of Weird Al and Daniel Radcliffe... and I've been wanting a comedy movie for a while that's actually FUNNY. And this was actually very funny so... this was overall just really really good.
First let's talk about how I watched it... so I don't have Roku- but you can download the Roku Tv App to watch it... which I didn't think would be a problem but it was a little complicated. I thought maybe my tv would have a channel for it the way they do with Netflix and YouTube but I didn't see it there... and you can't get the app for your Apple TV... so I downloaded it to my iPhone and screen mirrored it. It still looked good- but that's not the way I want to watch every movie. It was worth it though because I was laughing through this whole movie.
Daniel Radcliffe I think can do any role. I think he does silly roles ESPECIALLY well... I really liked the book Horns and he was perfectly cast for that... had the movie adaptation been a little more similar to the book. I think he did a great job at being really funny in this movie but also kind of believably playing a dramatic biopic character without it being too serious. I think that's a skill that maybe not a lot of actors have.
If you're a fan of 90s comedy in general... this movie is for you. First off- basically every character in this movie is a cameo from a very famous comedian... but there's also a scene where Al is at a party with a lot of comedians including Elvira and Gallagher- who was a favorite of my sisters... he even smashes a watermelon. I don't want to spoil too much about it... but I was excited to see they had Gallagher as a character.
It's also a parody of a biopic. Some of the events in the movie happened- like he did record My Balogna in a gas station bathroom across from a radio station he worked at... but I'm pretty sure he didn't date Madonna or take down Pablo Escobar. Lol.
This is definitely the funniest comedy that's been released in a while. And overall I just really like it and it's probably the best free movie I've ever seen.
Hope you like this review!
Bye!
