The Books I’ve Read So Far Ranked
Alrighty! So this year so far I’ve read a lot of books! And I want to rank them… so here you’re going to get them all ranked…
I did enjoy all of these and would recommend some of them… but some of them- as Austin Powers might say- weren’t my bag baby… so I’m going to rank them. I’ve read 22 books in total- but I’m going to count the Mindf*ck series and Heartstopper series as one because thats a little bit easier. So this is going to be 15 ranked from worst to best.
15. Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
I know… I KNOW this book is a lot of peoples favorite book of all time…and I did initially give it 5 stars because I can see why people would rank this 5 stars. It was really fun to read and it was a quick read so I feel like it has that going for it… I just did not really like the twist at the end. I thought it was kind of cheesy… it didn’t really make me cry and… I feel like they used it as an excuse for Miles’ behavior… and that’s not really right. A lot of the characters in this were just kinda crappy... and even though it is a good read and Colleen Hoover is a good writer… least favorite of the year.
14. Nettle and Bone by T. Kingfisher-
again I really liked this book- I just read it… but I feel like I had a hard time getting into it and connecting to the characters. I would also love to read a dual POV and this was third person… it got me into fantasy but it just wasn’t one of my top books for the year so far.
13. The Hating Game By Sally Thorne
The more I read rom coms… the more overrated I think this book is… it’s not bad it just… isn’t my favorite. Maybe the way I read it was weird… but I think Workplace Romance isn’t my favorite if the person’s job doesn’t really interest me… and I don’t think the chemistry between the two leads was great. I still bought the movie and I’ll watch it eventually and compare the two but… now that I’m reflecting on it… I’d read it again but… idk if it’s the best.
12. The Witch’s Heart by Genevive Gornechec
I hope I spelled the author’s name right… I actually really liked this mythology retelling and I would read it again and I would love to read more of Norse mythology. There were definitely some problems with this book at the end mostly… but overall I’d read this again and it was the first book I read this year… and I love it!
11) People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry
This is a funny book! This was the first Emily Henry book I read and I definitely wanted to read more from her after this… but after reading Beach Read and Book Lovers this one just doesn’t really compare. The fight at the end of the book just kind of seemed out of nowhere.
10. The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
Okay… I had problems with the male character of this book- but it definitely made me laugh, and it just kind of kept me reading. The fight between the two main characters… it was kind of unforgivable to me on the guys end… but I still did like the book a lot and I definitely want to read more Christina Lauren.
9. Addicted To You by Christa and Becca Ritchie (book 1 of The Addicted Series)
I read this when I was sick… so a lot of times I just put it down and went to sleep… but overall I liked it! I haven’t read any of the rest of the series yet- but I do think this was a good start!
8. Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes-
I still think about the world of this book and I’ve had dreams about the Hawthorne Mansion. I didn’t read The Hawthorne Legacy yet- but I probably will soon before the new book comes out (in August I think?) but I really like it overall.
7. It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
I really liked this book. I like Colleen Hoover’s writing style a lot and… you can tell that she got a lot better since she wrote Ugly Love. I liked the characters in this and it was just a good read overall.
6. The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
Chapter 16. That’s all… but also this was funny and one of the cuter books I think I’ve read.
5. The Heartstopper Series by Alice Oseman-
These books are so cute and I really like reading graphic novels. I should probably read some more graphic novels and comics cause I have a lot! Nick and Charlie are very cute- young love is just so heartwarming and overall I loved it!
4. Book Lovers by Emily Henry
I keep thinking about this book and I want to read it again. I did kind of connect with Nora maybe more than I have with any other characters. It was just a cute love story between Nora and Charlie… and I just loved the small town romance and how it was very aware of the tropes it was using.
3. The Mindf*ck Series by ST. Abby
This was the second book I read this year and… I loved it. I was totally hooked on it. I love that it’s Dual POV- I read this around the same time I watched the Saw Movies- so that was just… perfectly timed… and overall if you’re looking to read a series really quickly- this is great. There’s definitely some triggers- it is very graphic with its descriptions- but the revenge in this was just amazing!
2. Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas-
Omg I love Yadriel and Julian!!! There’s a twist at the end of the book that I didn’t really love… but I hope there’s a sequel or several sequels to this book. I want this book to be bigger than Harry Potter… it’s so good.
1) Beach Read by Emily Henry-
This Book… I LOVED this book. It was perfect. The writing- the banter. Gus is just the perfect book boyfriend. I just… loved everything about this book!
Okay that is everything. I know I didn’t give any synopsis about the books… but that would take forever and I might still do individual reviews on these and I have individual reviews on a few of these at least.
Bye! -Shannon
