The Best Songs in Christmas Musicals

Okay so I'm not quite done talking about Chrismas Movies yet... let's talk about my favorite songs from Christmas Movie musicals. These aren't necessarily Christmas songs- they're just songs in Christmas Movies.

So what inspired this was Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. This has a lot of great songs including Jodi Benson's Winter was Warm. The Crachitt family has a great song about how they have a lot even though they don't have a lot of money... there's a lot of great songs in this movie but specifically I'm talking about the comic relief song during the Ghost of Christmas Future when the people are selling things that they stole from Scrooge... they sing "We're Despicable" just about how bad they are and... it's just so funny. And the one bad guy just throws flowers at the end of the song because he does such a good job singing it. It's great.

Also let's talk about Muppet's Christmas Carol while we're on it. All of the songs in this are really good too. Marley and Marley is probably my favorite song because it's the funniest. The deleted song When Love Is Gone is very emotional and taught me what heartbreak was as a kid... and I'm upset they cut it from the movies original theatrical release. I also have to include the most Chrismasy song in the movie It Feels Like Christmas. A lot of times the songs in these types of Christmas musicals are underrated and not played on the radio as a Christmas song... this one should be.

If you believe Nightmare Before Christmas is a Halloween Movie or a Christmas Movie- there's no denying the song What's This where Jack discovers Christmas for the first time... that's a Christmas song.

One that's a little bit more recognized is You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch. All the songs from the Grinch are pretty popular around the holidays- Where Are You Christmas was always popular on the radio around here- it was some of my friends favorite Christmas song too. I personally am not that much of a fan of where are you Christmas... I'm not the biggest fan of Jim Carey Grinch... but it's still a song worth mentioning I guess.

The Christmas Vacation opening title song is a fantastic song by Mavis Staples. I'm kind of surprised Holiday Road has been turned into a Christmas song and not this song getting more recognition because 1) Holiday Road isn't a Christmas Song 2) this song is better.

And last but not least this one isn't underrated but I don't think I hear it every year on the radio- Burl Ives Silver and Gold. This is a great Christmas song- a great song and Burl Ives just has a really good voice for Christmas music especially .
