That Time I Saw Kevin Smith at His Comic Shop
So I should start this off by saying- I love Kevin Smith Movies for the most part. I've seen almost all of them recently and I forget if I've done a ranking of all of the View Askew universe but... I might have that coming up soon... but now I have to talk about the time I actually saw the man himself.
It was the Tuesday before Christmas I think- my boyfriend and I both had off of work and we went to Red Bank for the day because they had free parking and we wanted to go to Jack's Music Shoppe for ourselves and to get a gift card for someone.
Side story about Jack's- getting a gift card there is just really nice and easy. You can't pay cash for the gift card- but they put it in a nice envelope with the logo and a receipt. If you know a record lover- but don't know what records they would get themselves- this is a cool place to get a gift card to if you're local!
Also side story from Jack's- My boyfriend found a cd he was looking for and he got me a Lilly Tomlin comedy album that my mom had and could impersonate.
Okay so after that I said "why don't we stop at Jay and Silent Bob's secret Stash! Idk why but I kind of want to look there." We had just watched Clerks 3- which honestly we were both super disappointed in- but I still thought it would be fun to check out what they had.
And I went in and jokingly asked my boyfriend "would you like a Mooby's stocking" because... we both didn't like Clerks 3 but Clerks 2 was pretty good and it took place in Mooby's. And then there he was: Kevin Smith!
He was filming a Smodcast episode about Avatar: The Way of the Water and his voice is very distinct and even better in real life. He was doing an ad for the brand Native- which is known for their deodorant and vegan personal care products. I really like Native Deodorant and Kevin Smith is vegan- so I thought that was a cool ad for him. He seemed really passionate about it and he has a great voice for advertising! I'm surprised he isn't in more ads honestly.
So yeah because he was filming- unfortunately we couldn't ask for pictures or autographs- I'm not sure I would have asked for one- but I'd want him to know that I'm a big fan of his work.
All in all it was just kind of cool. I was oddly starstruck from it- partially because we couldn't talk to him. The podcast looked really good in the comic shop and I don't think you could hear much of us talking or doing anything anyway but my boyfriend and I really just kind of whispered to each other because we didn't want to be rude.
You just never know what you'll find sometimes. It was cool.
Anyway there's my NJ Celebrity sighting recently- have you guys seen anyone famous near where you're from? I haven't seen too many famous people- but I do have some stories.
Bye!
