My boyfriend and I are what you may call... maximalists... we go to dollar stores and buy dvds and then we never watch them. SO what we decided to do was wrap them up in gift wrap and select them at random. We've also wrapped up some "good" movies wrapped with them so that we don't have to totally torture ourselves. This is the first time we've actually tried it and it was the 1997 Mob Comedy 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag.
Why Did We Even Buy This Movie????
So here's an interesting story you might say... uhhh my mom used to ask at the movies for the buttons they used to always wear or any extra posters they had. This used to be something they did a lot more and they would usually give you something if you asked for it. One that she found recently in our kitchen junk drawer- which we no longer have: 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag. Also I'm a big fan of the movie Home Alone and an even bigger fan of its sequel: Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Joe Pesci was in both of those movies and he stars in 8 heads in a duffel bag.
Synopsis
This movie has 2 main characters. Joe Pesci- the mobster and Andy Conway- the regular guy on a vacation with his girlfriend and her parents. They sit next to each other on a plane and... their duffel bags get confused... and our regular guy: Charlie ends up with 8 heads in a duffel bag- and our Mobster Tommy needs to get it back before he gets whacked.
What'd we think?
So this isn't a great movie. It is kind of funny and I actually thought it was okay overall. I don't know that I can 100% recommend this- but honestly if you're looking for a Mobster comedy and you've already seen Analyze This and Analyze That... this is also an option you have... so you can run, walk, or slowly and safely drive to your preferred Dollar Tree and buy this movie.
I thought Joe Pesci was really good, David Spade was in this and he was really funny. The main character was Charlie though and he was not likable at all. He also had this friend that just kept getting crazier as the movie went on... and that was annoying. And it did my least favorite thing: it kept revealing the heads as though the audience had no idea there were severed heads in a duffel bag despite us very well knowing the movie is called 8 heads in a duffel bag.
So yeah... this was a movie that I watched... and also I own it. I paid for it...
Bye!
