Story Time: The Angry Cowboy
I forget if I've told this story or not yet... but a few months ago my boyfriend and I went to one of our favorite Italian restaurants nearby- and there was a couple in front of us that was... a bit much.
So... pretty much every restaurants rules- especially in the Jersey Shore in the summertime- are that they don't seat you until your whole party is there. They were just waiting on one more person- but they wanted to sit down right then.
This story is called The Angry Cowboy because the husband was in a cowboy hat and a country music radio station t shirt. My boyfriend and I could hear them kind of complaining to the staff when we walked by- but when my boyfriend politely asked "did you put your name down" the man just YELLED at him and said "WE PUT OUR NAMES DOWN BUT THEY WONT SEAT US UNTIL THE WHOLE PARTY IS HERE." ... he really didn't need to yell that at my boyfriend? My boyfriend had no way of knowing that was what the situation was and didn't need this man basically screaming this at him... he just wanted to know what was going on. So then my boyfriend said "okay cool" and he was going to put our names in/ get us a table but the group behind us - which was a large group then said- "Hey! We have to put our names in too." And they said it like they were there before us... but I don't think they were? Also they were a huge group and we were just two people... it wasn't like there was a wait to get in- I would have just not made a big deal of it.
But whatever- we let the big family go before us because we didn't know if there were there before us or not. We kept hearing the woman complain- saying how she's the best customer ever she's here all the time and she doesn't see why they can't just give her a table. She has all these gift cards for the restaurant and she's saying "I'm just going to give all these gift cards away. I'm never coming back here." But... okay... I'm guessing this woman just comes here with gift cards- it's probably not like she's really a regular spending her own money there. She probably just gets gift cards around her birthday and Christmas and uses those every once and a while. Who knows if they even tip or not... it was just... unnecessarily rude and angry about a situation they didnt need to be angry about.
And honestly every restaurant I've been to usually has the same policy. Unless your other party member is parking the car or something... they usually don't seat you until everyone's there cause that's the easiest and most practical and fair thing they can do.
So... that's a longer story than I thought it would be... but be kind to Restaurant Workers, retail workers and even people just politely asking simple questions behind you. Their girlfriends might be bloggers that eventually write blogs about how their boyfriend was yelled at by an angry Cowboy.
Bye!
