Story Sunday: My Super Bowl Fever Dream

I really tried to watch the Super Bowl this year- but I was sick and I was just asleep watching it like it was a fever dream. So... I refer to the Chief's win as the "fever dream" Super Bowl." And although I didn't see the whole thing with my eyes- I was half awake for the halftime show and it was the best performance ever. I love Rihanna... especially when she's pregnant.

So the day before my boyfriend and I got stuff from his storage unit the day before and we went to dinner late. I don't want to say the name of the chain restaurant we went to- but it was the same restaurant we had our first date at and the location we went to has kind of gotten weird... so we went to a location by where he currently lives and it was good... but I think they changed the recipe of what I usually ordered.

So keep in mind- I was slightly getting over a cold or something. It was like a runny nose and sore throat and it wasn't awful... but it was kind of bad... maybe I should have had musanex or something earlier on- but I don't really like "doing drugs" and I have to realize medicine isn't drugs and it's totally okay to take musanex. But yeah I think I tend to get sick when I have a backup of mucas and I think the spicy dish that I had did not really help with that.

So I slept on the couch that night and I kind of felt like I was going to throw up in the morning- I was a little hot too so I thought I'd eventually feel better... but I didn't do I was sick to my stomach. My boyfriend was really worried because he was the only one with me but he was so sweet and helpful. I felt a little bit better after- but I know I couldn't be out with my parents and their company for the party... I just stayed in my room and tried to watch the game... but I'm not a big football person so I fell asleep and when I heard "fifteen minutes to the halftime show" I was like "okay I'll wake up for that."

And I heard Rihanna singing Bitch Better Have My Money and I love that song but didn't open up my eyes... I still really loved the set list she had. The order of the songs was just perfect and all the songs she played were really fantastic. I heard there was some criticism over her set list and there being no theme to the halftime show... and even in my fever dream the set list made sense to me so... I call BS on whatever reviewer said that.

So I woke up pretty much during the part where the chiefs were doing really really well... and that might be the most I've ever actually paid attention to an NFL game... it was really exciting. I felt bad for Mahomes with the grass and his injured ankle... I didn't think the Eagles were going to let them win... but they were just really good. It was a really exciting second half of the game.

The commercials really weren't that special or good. Idk they weren't bad- but we used to have really funny commercials or some heartfelt ones and... these were very mid. Nothing memorable that anyone will be quoting.

And then I tried watching the cooking show after the Super Bowl- but the concept was the exact same as The Platform and I was like "why did they make a cooking show based off The Platform???" And also- I am not that much of a fan of The Platform to be honest... it was a bit pretentious.

So yeah- that was my Super Bowl fever dream in a nutshell. I felt better by the end of the night- I did end up eating some of the food and the desserts. My parents just had turkey- so it wasn't anything too crazy. It was easy to eat. I drank a Starbucks coffee too so that was good.
