Story Sunday: Gotta Catch ‘‘em all!
If you grew up around the time I did then you remember the Burger King Pokémon toys and the craze that went on with trying to catch them all. And honestly- I didn't care about catching them all... there was only one that I wanted and I didn't think I would ever find it: Pikachu.
Now Pikachu might be the most famous Pokémon now and he might be the easiest toy to get today- but back then it was just 1 out of 150 Pokémon. I didn't think I had a chance at all of gettting it- nevertheless I tried. My mom took me to Burger King a lot- we went to different locations and she probably got me extra toys if they allowed it just to up my chances of getting a Pikachu.
I still remember it today- it was at the Burger King at Monmouth Mall- I was with my sister- my mom was getting food from Chick Fil A probably and I opened up the pokeball and there he was! A tiny stuffed Pikachu!
My sister and I gasped and smiled and I closed the pokeball back up so that no one else would see it and try to steal it from me. This was one of the best moments of my life and 100% a core memory. I caught a real Pikachu... and it was really really exciting.
When my mom- or maybe it was my grandpa? Or both? Came back to the table I was so excited to tell them! Guess what?? I got a Pikachu!!!! And they were very excited for me because that's all I really wanted and they were probably tired of Food Court food at that time.
I don't remember a whole lot else about the Burger King Pokémon toys. I know I went to the event where you could trade toys with other kids and I got a Muk Keychain- which I thought was cool... I'm a little sad they don't do as many events for the toys as they used to. My boyfriend ordered a McDonald's kids meal so that I could get a Masked Singer toy and I was really excited for that one! But there's no events or anything.
Bye!
