Story Sunday: Cheesecake Factory Karen
So my boyfriend and I decided to go to The Cheesecake Factory a few weeks ago... and that might have been a bit of a mistake. First off... The Cheesecake Factory is expensive and second off... we sat next to a Karen.
So this woman- seemed like maybe she was in a bad mood to begin with. I'm not sure how long this couple was waiting but according to the lady she had been waiting for 30 minutes and they didn't get her appetizer yet... so I wasn't there when Karen and her husband got there... but I have a feeling that maybe they weren't waiting for 30 minutes. I only think this because... I believe after she first confronted a waiter about the problem- it then changed to 40 minutes... and 10 minutes hadn't passed... it was more like 5 minutes if that. She then said that "I give them 5 minutes" and then 30 seconds later they just got up and left. They had drinks- it looked like the guy got an alcoholic beverage... and I'm pretty sure they didn't pay for it. Which... isn't okay.
So it was a holiday that we went on- a lot of people had off from work, so I do think Cheesecake Factory is was busier than usual. And I do think that our servers were particularly attentive to us... the guy was great to the table next to us... but I do kind of wonder if that particular seat just got forgotten about because I feel like the next people that sat in that seat had a bit of a wait too. I don't think they minded though- They were teenagers.
So yeah, I don't necessarily think this particular instance was the worst Karen of all time... she did tell us to enjoy our dinner right when she was getting up... which I think was supposed to be kind of an apology because she made us uncomfortable.
She also mentioned the people next to us had gotten their food before they did... which I can see being annoying... but I also think there's a lot of reasons that could happen. If they had an appetizer that had to be fried or something- that can take a while. The people next to us might have had a more common appetizer that was easier to make... maybe because they ordered an alcoholic drink they didnt want to rush the meal too much... there could be a lot of reasons why the other table got their meal first... and the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
I also feel like the tables that are like really close next to each other tend to have problems like that. There's just no privacy and they're way more uncomfortable because you're next to strangers.
And they should have paid for their drinks... bottom line!
Alright- that is everything!
Bye!
