Space Jam: A New Legacy Review
Okay... I was really excited for this movie... and I have to say I was slightly disappointed in it. Overall I enjoyed it and I'd watch it again... but there was like a 15 minute ish segment that was a bit hard to get through.
Okay so in this movie we see Lebron James get sucked into the Warner Brothers Server by the villain of the movie- Al G. Rhythym. And his son Dom is on the team against him- the Goon Squad... which includes some really powerful and very talented basketball players including a spider woman, a water typhoon type of guy, someone that can stop time... it's all very cool.
And while the Goon Squad is cool... its not the same as the Monstars. The Monstars are... maybe my favorite part of the original Space Jam. I thought they were really cool and funny and... it just kind of made me sad when I learned the Tune Squad would not be going against the Monstars for this movie... I was upset. And... I think The Goon Squad was just a little too much for the movie. There was a big chunk of the movie that took place in the basketball game and the Goon Squad was doing all of these things and EVERY SINGLE WARNER BROTHERS CHARACTER was watching in the backround... it was a whole lot. My boyfriend said it has been compared to TikTok... where you just watch short clips and that's it. It was cool it was just... a lot. And I kind of just stopped paying attention to that section.
Once they started to get more into the Looney Tunes segments of the movie... it started to pick back up again. There was also a really sweet story with his son Dom that I really loved. Lebron is also honestly a good actor... He might not be as iconic as Michael Jordan- but I do think he's a better actor.
Overall totally recommend the movie... it's not as good as my memories of the first Space Jam. I haven't seen the full movie recently... I have it though so it's on my radar. But... yeah. I really liked this movie and even though I didn't love every minute of it... I'd totally recommend checking it out. I think it's just a personal thing for me that it was just a little too much- I don't think everyone will have the same problem. But overall- it was pretty good!
Bye!
