Shortages? My Advice
Alright so… even though it’s August… the holiday season will be here before you know it and right now there are shortages on things like Toys and a lot of other things… so… I feel like I’m going to just kind of give my advice and what I’m doing.
First off if you see something you think someone will love… buy it when you see it. if you think of an idea or something… get it when you think of it if you can. If you see decorations you like… just pick it up now- keep the receipt and return it if you don’t love it when it’s time to use it!
My other advice would be gift cards. I know you can’t really get everyone a gift card… but if you know someone who you could get a gift card for… get them that. That way maybe if things are out of stock- they can get what they want when it’s in stock or something. Another good thing about gift cards is that they’re slim and easy to store. If you end up not exchanging gifts with someone… you could use it for yourself (lol) and it’s easy to kind of budget out instead of buying a bunch of gifts at one time.
Also there’s a website I shop at that has free gifts with purchases sometimes… Fab Hatters actually does a free Lucky Dip when you purchase $90 worth of Erstwilder. I’ve never gotten anything in a lucky dip there that I haven’t liked and wanted to keep... but I know there are things that maybe I wouldn’t want but my sister would. I havent saved anything for a gift for her since she usually knows it’s a free gift with purchase but… its something that could make a great gift.
You could also gift something practical thats maybe something you know will be easier to find. Food is something that’s a good gift. Notebooks, calendars. I got my dad a face soap last year that I thought he’d like.
If you’re crafty… making something is always good too. You could take something simple- wrap it really cute and then bam: that person will remember it forever.
And my last suggestion is maybe you bought something for yourself that you think someone else might enjoy more… you can give that to them instead of returning it or reselling it. Again I buy a lot of Erstwilder and sometimes some of the things look the same and I think “Maybe I don’t need this but someone else would like it.” So… yeah.
If all that fails or the shortages get really really bad… you could always help someone do something. Clean the house for your mom, maybe take a friend out for dinner or something… idk. These are just my suggestions. I don’t really know why I thought of this- but I’ve heard there’s a toy shortage and I’m afraid there could be more…
Bye! -Shannon
