Shannon Watches White Lotus in 3 days
White Lotus is a show I had heard a lot about and I finally had to just watch it. A lot of people have said it's just a perfect show- and my review of it is "it's a Shannon show." It was made for me.
The pilot episode is honestly my favorite. It is just so funny and so absurd and the rest of the series is kind of like that. Each season takes place in a different White Lotus location- and each season opens with us finding out that someone involved with the hotel died. So it's sort of a mystery- but then the rest of the episodes don't really get into the "death" it's sort of a little bit more of a voyeristic look into the guests and staff at the hotel. And the guests at the hotel are very wealthy and... it just feels like you're eavesdropping into the lives of rich people.
The theme of the first season is more about wealth and status and the second season is more about sex and power... and to me the first season is funnier and because I really like the humor of the show I preferred the first season. I also really liked Armand and Shane- I thought that their dynamic was really funny and I just liked how Hawaii kind of worked compared to Sicily. Everyone in Hawaii was interacting together and they all saw each other often. There was the scene with Shane and Rachel renting the boat when Tonya was trying to scatter her mother's ashes. There was just a lot more comedy in the episodes and I really liked that part of the season.
I did still enjoy the second season. The ending was way more suspenseful and it was really cool to see Tonya take down all those guys. The thing that kind of disappointed me about the second season was Aubrey Plaza's story. I absolutely love her and that whole story was a little hard to watch- although it might have been my favorite story of the whole season...
Basically any of the actors in both season, I'm a fan of. Aubrey Plaza, Michael Imperioli, Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Steve Zahn and Jake Lacy... I really like and would want to watch anything these people are in anyway. All of the new cast I think might potentially become Instant Watches to me also... the whole cast was just really good and everyone did a great job.
I'm glad that they continued this from just a mini series to an Anthology series. I think the writing is brilliant and there is really so much they could do with this concept and it's just so fun to watch.
This has been my favorite show I've seen in a while where I just couldn't stop watching it. I was excited for Shrinking, but I couldn't really binge that- the last show I really binged was Aggretsuko's last season... so this was just such a fun show and I'm looking for some new show to love like this one.
Bye!
