Shannon's Movie Reviews: Raya and The Last Dragon
Alright- so this is a movie that is not really out yet- so I don't want to give any spoilers to it... but man. This was a great movie! It is beautiful, a really fun story and has some of the best characters of any Disney movie. Definitely worth watching. My sister got the Premiere Access for it- so I saw it that way... but I think if I had paid for it myself I wouldn't have been disappointed. It's a really great movie. And if you don't buy the premiere access- it should be releasing in a few months I think. I think it will be on Disney Plus and in theaters... but I'm not sure.
First... I LOVE the voice cast in this film. I'm a big fan of Awkwafina- I think she is so funny and talented and I watch just about any movie that she's in. I also love Kelly Marie Tran and she did a fantastic job in the movie, as well as Gemma Chan- who you might know as Astrid in Crazy Rich Asians. They were all so good and it was really fun. I liked Tran and Chan's voices specifically because they played the characters when they were younger also... so it was fun to really hear their range. They both have exciting voices and they did a great job.
The adventure itself was very fun too. Without giving too much of the plot away- Raya has to go through all the different villages on her Island to collect something... and she meets a lot of fun characters along the way including Sisu- the Last Dragon- played by Awkwafina... plus there's a really cute baby! It's a fun movie!
So this is the first original Disney Animated movie since Moana- and I felt like it was on par with Moana. I think I liked Moana a little more... but this movie is still really great. I've seen it twice already. I definitely liked it more than Ralph Breaks the Internet and Frozen 2...which were the 2 most recent Disney Animated movies. It's just really a fun movie and I'd totally recommend it!
Bye!
