Shannon’s Adventures: The Solar Eclipse!

Okay so I was the girl that brought Solar Eclipse glasses to the store I work at! So here’s how that went!

So I gave one to my mom, one to my dad and 4 for my boyfriend and his family. So I had 4 for work and I also had a photo filter thingy for taking pictures without damaging your phone.

This is the only picture I got from the eclipse- I was a little nervous because I couldn’t see with the glasses and I didn’t know what I was taking a picture of.

So anyway- it started around 2 in New Jersey and I was at work and off my lunch break. Luckily- it wasn’t busy so we all took turns looking outside with the glasses.

My coworker that works up front at the registers told everyone when you could start to see something… and it was fun. You could see just a tiny bit of the moon covering the sun at first and then not that long after it was like halfway there.

Around the time it reached the highest capacity we would be able to see: a cloud blocked the sun… so that kind of sucked… BUT every once in a while we could see a glimpse of it between the clouds..: you just kind of had to get the timing right. And the best time I saw it it was at half capacity and then a little while later it was at a sliver.

All my coworkers were really excited that I brought in the glasses and they had fun looking outside and seeing it when we could. It was like a bonding experience. It was a little hard to focus on work with the eclipse- but we still got stuff done and it was good!

My mom was also pretty excited for it. She got to share it with my uncle and her friend too and she kept going outside to look at it with the glasses. My dad had a pair of glasses but he didn’t want to look at it in case he hurt his eyes- but he watched the footage on TV and he liked the new’s coverage of it.

Overall it was a really great adventure. I kind of want to learn more about eclipses- it’s super interesting!

And I totally recommend getting glasses and sharing them whenever there’s an eclipse!
