Shannon Goes To The Movies: The Haunted Mansion
So even though it flopped- The Haunted Mansion was a great movie- but I have to say it was soured with how they put their product placement in the movie.
Since that's my main critique of the movie I'll start with that. There's this really touching moment with the main character talking about how he misses his wife- who passed away... and he mentions that she went to Baskin Robbins... and that just really kind of soured a really beautiful scene.
The cast in this movie was really great- I'd say it was just about perfectly cast. I thought Lakeith Stanfiled did a great job leading this story, I loved all the supporting cast as well and I think they gave really interesting stories to each of the supporting characters- and overall it was just a really fun movie. I loved Tiffany Haddish, Danny Devito was great also... this was just really fun to watch. They all worked well together and they had a very Disney feel to it.
This movie was also kind of scary too! It was scarier than some horror movies I think I've seen recently. There were also a lot of witchy things and supernatural things in the movie and I really liked that. It was spooky but still fun and funny.
Overall the heart of this movie is with Lakeith Stanfield's performance. He just did such a great job in this movie and he looked really good. I love him on Atlanta and in Sorry To Bother You- so I wasn't surprised I liked him so much in this movie... but I hope people see that he really is a leading man. The director of this movie also did a great job! I watched some interviews with him and the reason for everything he did in the movie was really great. He seemed passionate about The Haunted Mansion.
This movie probably won't get the love it deserves because there's such tough competition this year and this month especially- if you're choosing between this movie and seeing Barbie a second time... seeing Barbie a second time might be a good choice- but this is a great movie and a fun haunted mansion.
Bye!
