Shannon Crafts: Make my Trader Joe’s Mini Tote Bag into a crossbody handbag!
Okay so this took a little bit of time… I bought a lot of things I didn’t end up using because I thought I was going to do things differently than I did… and I still might change it- but this is an easier no-sew way to do this.
So the things I actually used for it: an Eyelet tool with eyelets, a hole punch tool- you want to make sure it can cut through canvas, I got a bag organizer and a crossbody strap. Ohhh and I got keychain tools to attach the straps.
So I would recommend using a pencil beforehand to map out where you want to punch the holes and something to keep it kind of evenly. I would also recommend putting it towards the opening of the bag because that makes it easier for the keychain things. I tried to put it closer to the side on the first bag I did but that was really hard to get the keychain things from.
So the eyelet tool is really easy to use- it’s kind of the same as the hole punch- you just want to make sure you get the sides right and if it doesn’t look right you can squish if more.
I also put some holes and eyelets in the straps of the bag- I really like keychains on my bags- so this will make it easier to stick a keychain on it. And I did both sides of the bag with eyelets too because I messed up on one side… but it also looks uniform and nice.
This is what the finished product looks like. It’s really cute- it fits a lot of stuff and it’s comfy and easy. Plus I can put patches and pins and buttons on it… which I love!
So this is it! I love it and it’s just really cute!
Hope you guys like this!
Bye!
