Shannon and Aspen's Pennsylvania Food Extravaganza: Cityworks Eatery and Pour House
Okay- so by the time your reading this- my boyfriend Aspen and I will be back from our little vacation to Pennsylvania- and I'll have more posts on that... but for now I'll give you a food review on Cityworks Eatery and Pour House!
The Atmosphere
Okay so I didn't really realize that it was a Sports Bar- I also didn't realize that Philly was playing basketball that night so it was kind of fun and really loud. It was an exciting game and Philly was playing really well- but then the other team (Atlanta) started catching up and they ended up winning the game and the bar just cut the sound of the TV from the game and started playing Michael Buble as everyone sadly exited the bar. It was an exciting game and I cheered when Philly won... but it was sad that they lost- and I was kind of happy I wasn't too invested.
We could still talk to each other in the bar without being too interrupted... so that was good. It might be more of a date spot on a less busy night.
Appetizer
There were a lot of appetizers that looked good- but we went with the Chips and Queso. It was corn tortilla chips with queso and chorizo. It was really good. The chorizo tasted great- the chips weren't that flavorful but I still ate a few without the queso and it was pretty okay! The queso itself was really good too! We ended up eating the whole thing.
Entrees
I had the Filet Mignon Sliders and Aspen had the Tex Mex Mac and Cheese. I feel like maybe we should have switched entrees because I think he liked my sliders more and I liked his mac and cheese more.
I thought the sliders were just a little bit on the dry side. It did have a sauce on it... but I wish it was more of an A1 steak sauce or like a T Bone Tickler or something instead of whatever light white sauce it had on. It was on a Pretzel Bun- which I kind of forgot about. It didn't add a lot of flavor... but when I got a taste of the bun more on its own I was like "ohh this is a really good pretzel bun!" I ordered the steak Medium Well... I would say maybe it would have been a little better if I had gone with Medium.
And it came with fries- and the fries were pretty good.
I really liked the Mac and Cheese. I thought it was spicy but not too spicy and it was cheesy but it wasn't the type of cheesy that would leave your mouth dry. I thought it all tasted pretty good together. He described it as like an "adult hamburger helper." Which... I still think is okay. The meat (Chorizo) didn't taste quite as good as it did in the queso... but I still liked it a lot.
Dessert
There were only 2 items on the dessert menu- a Snickers Peanut Butter Pie and a Baked Cookie Dough. We had the Peanut Butter Pie- and it was really good! Very peanut buttery and chocolatey. There was literally nothing "Snickers" tasting about it at all... there was no caramel and the chocolate was darker... but it was still really good.
Drinks
I almost forgot about my drink! The Cranberry Mojito. They also had a cucumber mint martini that I thought was a mojito but it was a martini so... I didn't order that because I wanted a mojito. The mojito was really good! I ended up ordering a second one. Not the best mojito I've had- but a really good one nonetheless!
I know it sounds like I wasn't overly impressed with my meal- but I actually really liked it. The food as also filling- but not that filling. They have a rewards program that gives you $10 off for signing up for it. So that was good! I'd totally go back here- I wish there was one closer to where I live. There's more stuff I want to try there for sure!
Alright I hope you guys like this and look forward to some more food reviews from this vacation!
Bye!
-Shannon
