Shannon And Aspen's Pennsylvania Adventures!
So I had a week's vacation time that I wanted to take... and I decided to take that time and travel with my boyfriend to... King of Prussia Pennsylvania. Weird choice- yes... but there's a lot to do in PA and a lot of it wasn't too far away. We were thinking of going to New Hope or Hershey and we decided not to... but we still had a fun few days to explore and EAT! We ate a lot... lots of food reviews coming up.
The first day it took us a while to actually get to the hotel... we had some car issues RIGHT when we were ready to get going... so that set us back a couple of hours... but once we got going everything was good! We stopped at a McDonald's to get some BTS meals... and then we were off to the hotel.
So I thought the hotel was one I had stayed at before... but I'm quite sure I haven't. I've been to PA before on a ski trip... and I thought it was at a Hyatt- but I think maybe it was a Raddison? Maybe a Ramada? Not sure. But it was a Hyatt... and it was kind of small and the Pool and Restaurant were both closed... so that was a bit of a bummer. Overall it's a nice, affordable hotel. I forgot to take pictures... but the room was pretty big. It had a couch, a living room, a desk and a nice bathroom with the sink outside. They had a nice full length mirror that I could take OOTD Pictures on... and that was nice! It was a comfortable bed and it's not anywhere super amazing if you're going to be in the hotel a lot of the day... but it wasn't bad. The location was pretty good because it was right near the KOP Mall, Valley Forge Park, and King of Prussia Town Center- which is where we got most of our food!
So the first night we went to Cityworks for dinner- Review on that very very soon... but it was also really fun because there was a Philadelphia basketball game going on. And my boyfriend and I don't watch sports- but it was a good game and we enjoyed the enthusiasm of the group and even joined in cheering. We were also sad when everyone walked away as soon as Philly lost... which was sad.
Anyway after that we watched some TV- they did have an app that let you cast your streaming devices from your phone to your tv... it was a little spotty... but it was okay and we actually watched The Lizzie McGuire Movie and Booksmart and some tv shows... and that was fun. We like chilling out and watching things in our down time in hotels... so that's fun. I had already seen The Lizzie McGuire movie recently, but had fun watching it with him- and I've never seen Booksmart so that was good!
Anyway we did go to the KOP Mall on our second day. It was a HUGE mall and if you're a fan of designer bags, clothes and shoes... this mall has a whole section with ALL DESIGNER stores. Louis Vutton, Gucci, Chanel I think, Burberry, just a lot... plus there's a Bloomingdales, a Neiman Markus... there's a lot of places where you can buy designer things. Also a lot of regular stores like Hot Topic, Auntie Ann's, As Seen on TV... just like super regular places alongside of these crazy expensive designer places and Peleton and Tesla... it's kind of weird but awesome. I got hot so I took my mask off (I've been vaccinated and it is legal in PA to take off your mask indoors if you're fully vaccinated. And it was brief.) for a little bit and it smelled like Fancy Store- but also Auntie Anns at the same exact time. VERY interesting smell. But it was good!
Small Mall Haul: I got the In The Heights Original Broadway Cast record from The Rock Shop. I was super excited to find that! I also got some things from Sephora- all from the new Makeup by Mario Contour Line. I got the Contour stick in the shade Medium, the Blush Stick in the shade Dusty Rose and the Soft Glow Highlighter in the shade Pearl. These products are all really great and last a long time on the face. The contour stick is maybe a little bit warm for me... but these are nice and easy to use and pretty!
We ate at a place called Founding Farmers after that... and that restaurant was AMAZING! We sat at the bar because we didn't really know you needed reservations. They had Kettle Corn on the appetizer menu and Fried Chicken and Donuts on the entree menu and I was like "YES. WE'RE GOING HERE." And man... was that a great choice. The bartender was fantastic too... everyone working there was super nice and had personality... and the food was really delicious.
The last full day we were there we walked Valley Forge Park... and we thought we'd just be there for a little bit- didn't want to walk the whole trail... but we ended up walking the whole trail. We just liked being out in nature listening to the sounds. It was a beautiful day and it wasn't too hot or too cold. Plus it was nice not being on an actual tour- we could go at our own pace, take pictures, navigate on our own and look at all the signs and things they had. It was really interesting.
After that we ate at a place called Paladar that was like latinamerican food... it was really good. Not as good as Founding Farmers... and the portions weren't that big... but it was good!
Ohhh we also went to The Melt Shop for lunch that day too... which was at the mall and that was a little hard to decide what we were going to eat. But it was like a grilled cheese place and it was super good. I'll probably have a review on that too.
One lunch place I won't have a review on was where we ate our first whole day. It was an asian fusion place and the food was pretty good and the service was good. But I was still eating the chicken and the waiter asked "Are you done with this." I said "No, I'm still picking." Then he asked again and I assumed he was talking about my iced tea and I said "yes I'm done with this." And then he took my chicken away. So... not going to name the restaurant because I think it's just a small business... but the story was funny so I thought I'd share that.
Today was our last day- so after we checked out we went to Starbucks and we saw this $5 car wash place the first day and my boyfriend was like "I could use a car wash." So we went to the car wash. Then we went to Mission BBQ for lunch. So Mission BBQ is veteran owned and it's a chain I believe but I think the employees also might be veterans. And there were tons of pictures of veterans, police officers and firefighters on the walls and that was nice. The thing I didn't know about the place though- which was pretty nice- is that every day at Noon they play the National Anthem. And we were ordering our food at noon... so... that was interesting. And fun. They also show you what you order to make sure everything is okay before you leave... and it was a lot of food for $30... which was good!
And then we went to Kilwins, which is an Ice Cream and candy shop that's mostly in the south... I had been there before for the Ice Cream- but today we just went for the candy and I found my favorite Easter Candy in the whole world... Chocolate Peanut Butter Stegasauruses on Bicycles... Which was amazing. We usually get them around me but my parents didn't find them this year... but they just HAVE THEM at Kilwins and they were in the case and everything... so I bought 8 and my sister and I are getting 3 cause that's usually what we get for Easter.
Overall it was a great trip. Very chill and unplanned and we just sort of followed our instincts and went where we felt like going and... we made some good choices!
Lots of reviews coming soon and posts about this.
Bye!
