Scream Sunday: Scream 3
Okay! Scream Sunday! Only 1 more to go... other than the new movie... which I'm not sure when I'm posting this... I might have seen already. I forget when this comes out vs when the movie comes out... but that won't be part of Scream Sunday- that will just be a regular movie review as soon as I can write it and... I might have some theories to go with it and some follow up posts after Scream 4... or maybe I already posted it because I'm not totally sure if my theory will be proven or irrelevant after Scream 5 comes out. So yeah... look out for more Scream Sundays. But... this is the last movie I've seen at the time and... I have mixed feelings.
On one hand- it was too much about Stab, Sidney was barely in it because Neve Campbell was doing another movie or two... so she was BARELY on set. Also there was a rewrite because it was around the same time as Columbine. So... the movie... felt a little rushed. It was also supposed to be the last movie so I feel like the actors maybe weren't giving their all because maybe they wanted to move on. And Courtney Cox was already famous from friends and married to David Arquette. Not that I thought any of them did a bad job... it just seemed like a "yeah this is the last movie" type of thing.
The story in this one seemed... like a lot. There were sooo many characters- there was not a lot of character development for any of them because I think they tried to make the villain look more mysterious. I don't even really think I had time to guess the killer because there were so many people and... it just seemed like the character we BARELY saw ended up being the killer... and it was just a lot... I just... didn't like that part of the movie that much.
There were other parts of the movie that I did like. I liked the cameo from Cotton and Randy... the 100% Cotton talk show was pretty funny. It was interesting to see the Sidney and Gale actresses from the Stab movie... they were pretty interesting. We got some backstory on Sidney and her mom... which I thought was interesting... but it kind of took itself a little too seriously. It was also just weird without Sidney in the movie that much... In some ways I feel like it brought together the trilogy really well but in others- it wasn't as good as the first 2 movies.
I think this was the only movie where Sidney actually understood what the villain was going through and that made for a really good ending. I wish they hadn't done the "scream" thing where the Killer is still alive... but of course they did. It's a Scream movie- they have to!
Ohhh there was also a producer of the movie Stab- the movie in the Scream Films that Scream is based off of- that would give the actresses roles if they slept with him... and that is who the villain blames for making Sidney's woman... the way that she was... and it was just weird to show that in a movie that was produced by Harvey Weinstein... that was a weird movie.
There were so many famous people in this movie too... Carrie Fisher, Jay and Silent Bob... they went all out for the last movie...
Alright-that's all I'm going to say about the movie. So far I really enjoyed all of them... but this one maybe was my least favorite.
Bye!
