Rom Coms To Watch on Streaming
Okay so here's my Rom Com recommendation list for Valentine's Day. I'll go through all the streaming services and let you know what I find.
Netflix
Netflix has some great picks- but I'm going to start with my anti recommendation- which is Your Place or Mine. I think this is the worst movie I've ever seen... and I've seen some crappy movies. This stars Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon... even if they did have chemistry the two had almost no scenes together and the story itself is just so synical that it's really the worst.
That movie was a Netflix original- but Netflix has 2 original Rom Coms that are wayyyy better: Always Be My Maybe and Love Hard. Love Hard is a Christmas movie but I'm still going to recommend watching it if you want a rom com... sometimes Christmas rom coms are the best. Always be my maybe is also very fun.
The movie 13 Going On 30 is also on Netflix... this is a really cute movie and great to throw on for a Galentine's Day party.
She's the man and Mamma Mia are also on Netflix and would be good for Galentine's Day.
There's some Jennifer Lawrence movies on here that are good. Silver Lining's Playbook and No Hard Feelings. No hard feelings isn't really a rom com but it kind of is? And maybe check trigger warnings for Silver Linings Playbook and know it's directed by an awful person.
The Holiday... this is a cozy holiday movie that I love watching in the winter.
Rounding out the list we have My Best Friends Wedding and This is 40- which is a little sad but still a rom com.
Netflix also has My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2... I think peacock has all 3.
Paramount+
Alright paramount plus has one of my favorites, How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days. I love this movie!
They also have a more recent movie that I really loved- Lost City which has Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum... I loved this movie more than I thought I would.
I'm going to mention that if you have showtime included they have Mafia Mamma- which is an awesome movie. I don't have showtime with paramount- but I bought the dvd- which is worth it.
Chasing Amy is a good Kevin Smith movie. The concept might be outdated- Ben Affleck falls in love with a lesbian and she falls for him... but she is bisexual and it does show female sexuality in kind of a positive way. This was also filmed in Red Bank New Jersey and they go to my favorite record store- Jack's Music Shop.
Failure to Launch is very similar to No Hard Feelings and I really like it.
I think both paramount and Netflix have She's The Man and I think they both have She's All That. I don't think I've seen She's All That... but I wrote it down instead of She's The Man I think...
They also have the remake of The Stepford Wives which isn't a rom com but I think it could be fun to watch on Valentine's Day so I'm including it here. This stars Nicole Kidman, Matthew Broderick and Bette Midler!
Peacock
Peacock had the fewest but they had some good ones!
First off they have My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3- which is my least favorite but overall a good watch.
Sleepless in Seattle- a classic I haven't seen.
Warm Bodies- which makes me sad- but it's based off of Romeo and Juliet and has a less sad ending.
Conception- which is a Love Actually type movie about how babies were conceived.
Isn't it Romantic- which my boyfriend and I saw on our first Valentine's Day together!
Made of Honor- I love this movie it stars Patrick Dempsey as the male Maid of Honor at his female best friend's wedding.
They also have Man of The Year- which isn't really a rom com but it has Robin Williams and I guess it would be fun to watch on Valentine's Day!
Prime Video
For Free they also have The Lost City and Made of Honor.
There's a cute movie called Penelope that I liked but I don't really remember it and I want to watch it soon. It's about a girl with a pig nose.
Notting Hill- a really cute Hugh Grant rom com. I think they also had Four Weddings And A Funeral- which I've never seen.
The Wedding Planner- classic JLo 90s or 2000s rom com.
Scott Pilgrim is a cute movie to watch for Valentines Day.
The Big Sick with Kumail Nanjianni is a great one that's fairly recent. Plus it's based off his real life.
Return to Me is a hidden gem starring David Duchovny and Minnie Driver.
Tubi
What Happens in Vegas with Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher is one I saw in theaters and I like it a lot.
I also like A Walk To Remember- I'm not a big Nicholas Sparks fan- but this one is great.
Return to me is also on Tubi which is a free streaming service so that's great. Warm bodies is also on there.
And they have Serving Sara which has Matthew Perry in it... not my favorite movie but it's still pretty fun to watch.
Hulu
Hulus got some good ones but my tv didn't let me scroll all the way... so yeah.
The Proposal, Monster in Law and Hitch are all funny ones I've seen when I was a teen. Great movies!
Pretty Woman I've never actually seen... but it's a classic and it's on here.
500 Days of Summer- maybe not the best to watch with someone on Valentine's Day... but it's a good movie.
27 Dresses is one of the best rom coms on this list... I love this one.
Crazy Rich Asians is also a fantastic one. One of my favorite recent movies.
Crazy Stupid Love was the first comedy Ryan Gosling did- which is CRAZY to think about now because he's Ken!!! I think they made a big deal about it and they said after he was in a lot of dark roles either his therapist or his agent or maybe he himself said he needed to do a comedy. This is sort of a dramedy but it is really cute still.
They also have The Hating Game- which I haven't seen but I've read the book and the book was okay.
And that's everything I can find right now. Should I watch some of the rom coms I've never seen and do a rom com roundup sometime? I might.
Bye!
