Reading Wrap Up: April
Alright so my goal of 5 books wasn’t really reached. Well it was- but I kind of cheated last month and included The Hating Game… which I hadn’t finished yet.
So I’ll give a quick mention to The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. It was really cute, I liked Joshua a lot and it’s just cute. This was workplace enemies to lovers… Lucy and Joshua are both up for the same promotion- but then Lucy finds out Joshua is actually really sweet and nice.
Next up was The Unhoneymooners. I liked this book… but I didn‘t like the guy in the book that much. I don’t think I would
have been able to forgive what he did…and how he didn’t take Olive’s side… but I really like Christina Lauren’s writing style. I bought a few other of their books and I’m excited to read them. This book follows Olive and… Alex? Maybe… nope Ethan are the Maid of Honor and Best Man at a wedding. She’s the twin sister of the bride, he’s the brother of the groom and they don’t like each other… but they end up going on the honeymoon after everyone except the two of them get food poisoning at the wedding. They end up realizing they should have given each other a chance and… they fell in love! Or maybe they didn’t I dont want to give away the ending. There are some serious moments towards the end of the book- but I liked it overall.
I also read Cemetery Boys… it was really cute! This follows a trans boy who is becoming a Brujo and he summons a ghost and is trying to find out how the ghost and his cousin died and (he was trying to summon his cousin originally)and he gets feelings for the ghost and it’s cute! And funny too and sweet.
Next up is Beach Read which is my new favorite book. this is by Emily Henry and it’s about 2 writers that switch genres for the summer and they fall in love and they both also kind of build a really beautiful friendship and respect for each other… they’re great characters too. I love Emily Henry and cannot wait for Book Lovers- which I think I should be getting in the mail on Friday!
And Heartstopper by Alice Oseman. I wanted to watch the netflix show so I picked this up and said “ohhh I’ll wait till I read the first to pick up the other volumes” even though they were right there at Barnes and Noble… now it’s sold out everywhere!!!! Can’t believe it! But this was a cute Grapic Novel where a teenage boy becomes friends with a Rugby Lad at his school and he gets feelings for him even though he thinks the friend is straight… BUT he’s actually questioning his sexuality and he gets an adorable crush on the main guy… it’s cute. Theres not a whole lot too the first one but it’s worth a read if you can find it! Lol.
That’s it! Fuller reviews on these books eventually!
