My Thoughts on The Bachelor 25

So... I have a lot of thoughts about this latest season of The Bachelor and... overall... after watching the best season of The Bachelorette... this one was not the best... and the producers just seemed to be all over the place.

I was excited about Matt James as The Bachelor. He seems like a nice enough guy- it's good to get a new face to the franchise that hasn't been on the show before... BUT that kind of made the show... weirdly unfocused. It felt like the producers were kin of manipulating Matt because he was probably easier to control due to the fact that he had no experience on the show before. And in doing that...it felt like we didn't see him as much as we did someone like Colton or Pilot Pete. It was mostly focused on the drama in the house instead of the romance.

And they cut out so many actual dates and one on one time... and they had an entire episode dedicated to drama and a girl that left the house a few episodes in... it was a bizarre editing choice. Especially considering that a lot of the girls that were in the show longer got cut out. There was a date where they played hide and seek in the woods and the girls that found Matt first got extra time alone with him in a hot tub... which Bri- who ended up in the final 3- got there first and Kit- who was in the final 8- strugged to find him... so that would have shown us a bit more of these girls that were in the show for a longer time.

THEY HAD TAYSHIA AND JOJO THERE AND THEY ONLY SHOWED THEM IN THE BLOOPERS! Ugh, it's just... not the best.

Anyway besides all of that... there was also the controversy of the show's final pick and... how the show handled that... which was bad. It was very bad. I feel like this has been talked about a lot... so I don't really want to address it now... but I think Chris Harrison should be held accountable as anyone in any job would be for acting the way he did. Plus... him "taking time off to learn" seems like BS to me... he was still charging people money on Cameo right after it all happened and his Good Morning America appearance... even Michael Strahan was kind of like "Uhhh no" afterwards so... yeah.

Things they did right however: The 2 Bachelorette seasons was an awesome announcement! I really like Katie and I love Michelle so I'm excited to see them as The Bachelorette. I'm a little worried about Katie's season being more like Matt's season because although she isn't a newcomer- she was not on the show for all that long. And Michelle I just really like! I hope she has some really good men on the show!

And Emmanuel Acho did a great job hosting. I wished they had shown the moment with Michelle and Rachel together and I wish we had got to see Bri's interview... but he's really good at interviewing people and I'd like to see him on the show again.

So yeah... those are my thoughts on the show. Overall I do like the drama of the show... but if there's no romance and they keep doing gimmicky things like bringing in more women and women from past seasons... it just seems weird. I think they need to start vetting the cast better... not just because of Rachel- but there have been several contestants in previous seasons that have been very problematic for one reason or another and I feel like that could be stopped.

Alright... I think that is everything. I hope you guys like this post. It's a hard thing to write because... I have strong feelings about this and I know I'm a little late to the game on posting it...but I just hope the show is better after the Bachelorette and for Paradise.

Bye!

-Shannon
