My Roman Empire: Thanks a 1999 sitcom about pilgrims
Okay so there were a lot of failed sitcoms when I was little that I watched and most of them I liked... this one I remember prettt distinctly and it sounds fake- but it's not.
So in 1999 there was a sitcom about the puritans who moved to America in 1621. And it had a lot of jokes that you would think were funny if you were my age at the time... which was pretty young.
They had a little animation of the ship the pilgrims sailed on and the general store opening.
I just watched some clips- it wasn't really that funny but at the time it was so different and funny I think my whole family liked it and we watched it together. I don't know that I really paid much attention or followed the plot- but I specifically remember one joke from Sarah- the female lead of the show. I don't remember the context but I remember she said something along the lines of "it's called mocking and I invented it" and I thought that was funny because she did invent it.
From the clip I saw the sets looked good but it looked like it must have been pretty cheap to make set-wise. Didn't seem like there were too many sets or props.
And Cloris Leachman starred as the grandma- and she's very funny.
Do you guys remember this show at all? I think all 6 episodes are on YouTube- I haven't watched a full episode yet but... it's there!
Bye!
