My Favorite Things I’ve Watched So Far This Year

Okay so I know I’ve been doing a lot of movie posts lately… I want to do a monthly movie wrap up… but I also didn’t think of doing this till now so I’m going to include the few movies I watched in February so far. I will either do another one of these at the end of the month or maybe around the middle of March.

I’m going to start with my favorite movie so far and then my Challenge movie or movies.

Favorite so far: The Substance

Omg I loved this movie! I will eventually have a movie Monday on it- I might see a movie this weekend and post about that first but… this movie Monday will be out before the Oscar’s because I absolutely think this should win best picture… unless Wicked wins because that is also my favorite movie but The Substance was just so good… definitely check it out. It’s out on Blu Ray and dvd and it’s also available to stream on Mubi- which I don’t have but they are running a great deal right now and I’d recommend getting it just for this movie alone. I think it’s $1 a month for 3 months. There’s also a TikToker I follow named boring blue boy or blueghosts- she has a great code for them too so if the $1 deal doesn’t work I’d recommend using her code cause she’s awesome and deserves it.

Anyway- uhh yeah. This is a great movie and I loved it!

Challenge Movie: Om Shanti Om - Indian Movie on Netflix

So I challenged my boyfriend this year I said “how about we watch one international movie a month from a different country” and my boyfriend loves watching international movies so he was excited about this too. Our first country was India and we watched Om Shanti Om which is an early 2000’s Bollywood classic I think. I’m pretty sure this movie is well loved and it deserves to be well loved because it’s amazing.

The movie follows a small Bollywood actor who is in love with this Huge actress who is a huge star but she’s always so kind to him and she’s a great, beautiful actress. She is secretly married to a man who is very controlling- and he ends up killing her in a fire and the actor also gets killed in the fire… but he gets reincarnated and he becomes this huge Bollywood star… but then he remembers who he used to be and wants revenge on her husband.

It’s very romantic, it’s very beautiful and it’s just a really fun movie. I definitely recommend checking it out if you have Netflix… I would even watch it again. This is just that good.

12 Angry Men

I almost forgot about 12 Angry Men. This is a classic for sure and for good reason. This is probably one of the best movies I’ve ever seen and I would watch it on a yearly basis- I think it’s that good. Its a very great courtroom drama and… I just really liked it. There was an episode of Elsbeth recently that was similar to this and I would recommend that too if you want a modern take on this type of story.

Companion

This is the only new movie I saw in theaters so far that makes the list. I already did my review on this so I won’t say to much but I’m obsessed with this movie and I definitely think you should watch it. It’s a great Valentine’s Day horror movie. I think the early trailers for this were way better than the later ones though- they should not have given too much of the movie away the way they did.

Seven

This is an old movie I saw in theaters and I really liked it! I think I did a movie Monday on this one too but it’s definitely a good one… and the ending is suspenseful even if you have been spoiled for it already.

Speak No Evil

I’m probably going to write a Movie Monday for this and post it eventually… I was shocked by how good this movie was. It’s really suspenseful and the characters do make some really dumb choices at the end of the movie… but overall I had a lot of fun watching this one!

Honorable Mentions: Blink Twice and Infernal Affairs, Transformers One

Infernal Affairs is a Japanese movie that the movie The Departed is based off of. And Blink Twice I did like but I have a whole movie Monday coming out about it so I’ll save that.

Transformers One is actually really great… it might be my favorite transformers movie- but I’m not a big fan of the movies- but this one is good. I don’t think it’s just a kids movie either- the advertisements for it made it look a little babyish- but I thought it was one of the most fun animated movies I’ve seen in a while.

I think that’s everything I want to talk about now. I was going to go over everything I saw and didn’t like too… but you know my opinions on Flight Risk and Wolfman already… they weren’t very good.

I might do one of these for tv shows too… I will talk about that eventually I guess lol 😂

Bye!
