My Experience Using Lyft for a Month
Alright- so I used Lyfts for about a month... really it was once a day for 2-3 times per week. Just to get to my job which is 10-15 minutes away. I've used Lyft before but not all that often... and I figured why not talk about it a bit.
1)Lyft Pink Wasn't Worth it for me really
So when you use Lyft they really really push their service Lyft Pink on you. They give you a free trial- which is what I used and after that it is 9.99 a month. They said "you saved $12 your membership paid for itself" which yeah... for a free trial membership that's not bad- but if you did pay the fee for it- I would only be saving $2. I didn't really use any of the other perks- I think it gave me priority rides but... I usually schedule my rides ahead of time and it pretty much makes sure someone picks you up. I didn't use their roadside assistance and I don't drive for Lyft- I think it might be better for that.. but for me it just didn't work. If you find yourself doubling it it might work- but it only saves you about a dollar or 2 per ride. It's very easy to cancel- so I do recommend using the free trial and seeing if it works for you- especially if you know you'll be using Lyft a lot during the month.
2) Lyft has trouble with my address- but a lot of drivers know what they're doing
For some reason Lyft doesn't know where I live. I understand why... but it was a bit of a problem. I just kind of waited outside early if I could- and waved to the person once I saw their license plate. I also thought about going to a nearby convenience store that I could walk to and getting a ride there but... I just didn't want to walk that far. Especially after I had Covid (I didn't use Lyft or go to work until I was negative) but my legs hurt so so badly after that! It would have been hard and it would have taken some time.
3) I use Lyft more than Uber
So when I first started using driving services a few years ago the place I work was just opened and Lyft had the address where I could just type where I work and the town and it would come right up... Uber didn't... so I was like "ohh Im just going to use Lyft" and now I know the app better- despite them being the same more or less... im just loyal to Lyft specifically. Im sure they both have benefits- but that's why im only talking about Lyft and not Uber.
4) I used Lyft Cash
So this was kind of cool- I used Lyft cash so that I could plan ahead and almost "budget" my rides. It was a necessary expense but... at least it just took a lump some at one time instead of like $20-$30 every time. You can also set it to auto renew when you get to $15. You can pay in incrimengs of $25, $50, or $100.
5) Most of the Drivers were friendly
I had pretty good experience. Some drivers were quiet but still friendly. Most of them just like driving and they like people... which is pretty cool. The first driver I had was so nice and his niece is a famous singer! She was featured in Heartstopper and I think she was on Elton John's podcast... it was pretty cool! He was so proud! And she's very good. I wonder if people comment "hey your uncle was my Lyft driver! I gave him 5 stars!"
So yeah! That was my Lyft experience.I hope this was helpful!
Bye!
