Movie Monday: Why The Blackening is a GREAT Horror Movie
So I recently watched the movie The Blackening... and I absolutely loved it and I KEPT FORGETTING to mention it in my Halloween posts. This movie is definitely not a forgettable movie and I would go so far as to say it is a must watch. I feel like there are 2 hororr movies I can recommend depending on your friend groups. The Blackening and Bodies Bodies Bodies take place in a friend group... but the only one that felt like people you could actually be friends with is The Blackening. There's one girl in the movie that we kept calling by a friend of mine's name because... she was the fun one of the group. Not that all my friends aren't fun- but this character is that one friend lol.
Bodies Bodies Bodies might be better if you are younger than I am... but my boyfriend is younger than I am and he did not really like it. It's the characters- the characters in Bodies just aren't likable and then when you get to the end... it kind of falls flat to me. I mean it makes sense but it... falls a bit flat.
So anyway the relatable characters make this a great slasher and whodunnit. It's also a good movie to watch if you aren't necessarily in the mood for a horror movie. This is very funny and it's suspenseful- but not horrifying.... and it's not really bloody there's no gore... for most of the movie there's really just an opening "kill". I would even say if you like trivia at all- there's a really good few scenes of them just playing the game and answering Black Trivia questions and my boyfriend and I were trying to answer them.
The ending is a little bit predictable but when you're watching the movie you don't really think about that because it's so exciting.
It's been a while since I've seen this movie too and I just remember watching it with a smile on my face because it was just the most fun horror movie I've seen in a long time. I wished I had seen this and Talk To Me in Theaters- I feel like these could be great to watch in a group- but I still loved this movie and it is definitely a must watch. I would say- watch it on a rainy night, on a Friday the 13th or something, or in the summer. This is kind of a summer horror movie- which is why I didn't really think about it when I was doing my Halloween Movie posts. But this is good enough it deserves it's own post- and it's good any time of year! Worth watching for sure!
Bye!
