Movie Monday: Two Awesome Movies I Watched on The Same Day and a Soulless Rom Com
Okay so... I wasn't going to combine these movies... but because I want to write more Spooky movies in October- I thought I would just combine these now because I really want to highlight these 2 great movies and I didn't want to do a whole awful movie post by itself because that is a bit of a downer.
And I'm going to start with the absolute STINKER of a movie and that is Netflix's Your Place or Mine starring Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher. So in this movie Reese Witherspoon hooks up with Ashton Kutcher and then they break up but they stay best friends- But Ashton Kutcher lives in New York and Reese Witherspoon lives in California? Or Seattle or something? Somewhere on the west coast. Reese Witherspoon is going to some sort of seminar or something for her career in New York and she's excited to see her best friend... but then her babysitter cancels- so Ashton Kutcher offers to babysit her son.
There's no real conflict in this movie other than Ashton Kutcher loves Reese Witherspoon but he doesn't want to be with her because he thinks he's a piece of shit. He does not prove the audience that he's not a piece of shit and... there's no real reason for us or Reese Witherspoon to fall in love with him. I also don't think it was just the lack of chemistry between Kutcher and Witherspoon... it's a hard movie for them to have chemistry in because of the fact that they aren't together for any scenes. And when they fall in love at the end it just feels undeserved and uneventful and the end is just very synical and unfunny.
Okay so now to the two great movies I saw.
So I watched Joyride- which I was really excited about and it was SOOOOO SOOOO funny! This would have been the funniest movies I'd seen in years if I saw this in theaters before Barbie came out...this had some of the best scenes in a while and everyone in the movie had great chemistry and played really well off of each other. I also just liked the relationships in the movie itself too. The friendships were really great and they just seemed so real and it was just really fun. There were also a lot of "Big Funny" scenes in the movie that will kind of keep people talking about. This movie wasn't in theaters long enough I don't think. That Fox News propaganda movie kind of overshadowed it and that's kind of sad. I'm glad my boyfriend bought me the blu ray of this because I can watch it all the time now!
The movie we watched after was The Voices starring Ryan Reynolds. I had seen a clip of this on a late night talk show years ago and it sounded really interesting. I had basically forgotten everything about it and I thought it was good to go in blind... but I knew it was an adult dark comedy where Ryan Reynolds talks to animals. I will say this is a slasher movie that deals with mental illness as well. It's very strange and I did fall asleep near the end but keep in mind- I had to wake up at 4am the day I saw it.
Okay that is everything! I hope you guys like this post!
Bye!
