Movie Monday: Shannon’s 25 Days of Christmas
Day 1- Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
Day 2- Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
Day 3- Home Alone 2: Lost in... just kidding but I do tend to watch Home Alone 2 every day from December to January. In this countdown I'll try to come up with 25 movies for Christmas! I'm going to try to come up with 25 different movies... but honestly I know I'll watch my favorites way more than one time.
1)A Charlie Brown Christmas
I love watching this near the early start of the holiday season because it does kind of show you what Christmas is really about. It's hard to remember that sometimes and it's so easy to get depressed seasonally... but this is nice.
2) Mary Poppins
So Mary Poppins is not a Christmas Movie- but I do like watching this movie once a year if I can and Christmas seems like the perfect time for that.
3) Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
They usually air this pretty early in syndication- so usually I watch this movie first before December starts. The Santa in Rudolph is NOT what the real Santa is like- this Santa is mean... but I still love all the characters in Rudolph. Hermie, Yukon Cornelius... everyone's great.
4) Home Alone Double Feature
Home Alone 2... I love. It's one of those movies I can watch every day and still crack up laughing from it... I usually watch this one every day during the Christmas season. I don't watch Home Alone 1 quite as often- but I still like the movies and you should probably watch them both together at least once.
5) Elf
I think I want to watch this one more often this season... I love watching Elf on Christmas or Christmas Eve- everyone in my family loves it... my niece loves Buddy the Elf... it's really cute and funny.
6) Santa Clause is Coming To Town
This one is kind of underrated in my opinion. I feel like because The Year Without a Santa Clause is a little bit better- people forget about this one... but i love this movie. It's really cute and just kind of fun to see one version of Santa's origins.
7) The Year Without A Santa Clause
This is a good one to watch after Santa Clause is coming to Town because Santa is the same in those two movies... and he's a good Santa. The songs in this one are great- this one has Heat Miser and Snow Miser which is awesome... this is a great one!
8) Love Actually/ The Holiday/ Happiest Season
Okay I'm going to lump these 3 movies together for an adult Christmas movie day option. These aren't movies I watch every single year- but usually I watch one of them. I've watched The Holiday a lot in the last few years and it's a very feel good cute chick flick. Same thing with Love Actually- I prefer the girl in this movie's version of All I Want For Christmas is You to Mariah Carey's... this is good.
Happiest Season is a great queer Christmas Rom Com- it's a fun movie to watch it does make some people feel uncomfortable- I don't get that feeling- but I've never been in a situation like this so maybe that's why. I've only watched this movie once but I would watch it again and think it belongs in a yearly viewing list.
9) The Santa Clause Movie Marathon-
It took me a while to appreciate this series to be honest... I really only liked the Second one for several years... but the first one is very silly and the third one has Martin Short in it! I might watch the first one again tonight it's a very silly movie that's really cute.
10) Muppets Christmas Carol
Omg... I love the Muppets and this is the best Christmas Carol! Sir Michael Caine is so good in this- my mom didn't really like him before this movie and then she started to like him again because of this movie and then Miss Congenitally. This is also the first thing I saw with Muppets in it and it kind of changed my life!
11) Grinch Day
Okay there are 3 Grinch Movies to choose from and they're all really good! The classic is obviously the best- so make sure to watch that above anything else... but all the grinch movies are good and they're fun to watch. My niece also met The Grinch recently- and that looked like it was a lot of fun!
12) The Christmas Chronicles
This is a really fun movie! I haven't watched it in a few years but it's a fun movie and gives a different version of Santa than I grew up with and I love it! It's magical and fun.
The second movie in this... I would say skip. I only watched it the one time and I'm not sure I'd watch it again. My mom loves Christmas Chronicles and I told her I thought she would find it weird.
13) Klaus+ A Boy Called Christmas
I have to be honest... I haven't really watched A Boy Called Christmas and I'm not sure I love Klaus as much as everyone else does... but these are good movies and belong on this list. I feel like they're modern Christmas classics. I think I'll try to watch both of these again this year.
14) Krampus-
This is another movie I've only seen one time- but it wouldn't be a Shannon Christmas Movie List without a horror movie- which I might include more of because I'm running out of movies a little for this haha. Umm so Krampus takes place on Christmas and it's scary but it is also pretty funny. It's a good Christmas movie!
15) Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol
So this is my mom's favorite Christmas Carol- and I love it too. This one is a bit different than the other Christmas carols because the Ghost of Christmas Preaent goes first... which is weird but it makes sense. Show Scrooge what's happening and then show him the past... idk it makes sense. And I just like Mr. Magoo. He's silly and this is an underrated Christmas Carol.
16) Christmas Vacation-
I can't believe I almost forgot about Chrismas Vacation! This is one of my favorites- it's so so funny and... I've watched this more than just at Christmas too... it's a really fun movie! I feel like whenever I watch it there's something different that I notice!
17) Gremlins-
Gremlins is often mistaken for a Halloween movie because it's scary... but Gremlin's takes place at Christmas and it is a Christmas movie.
Judge Reinhold Is in 4 movies on this list if you count the Santa Clause movies separately. And besides Arrested Development I don't know any other movies he's in.
18) Christmas Tv Episodes-
if you have a favorite tv show- you should watch all the Christmas Episodes during the holiday. One that I usually find myself watching is Community... all of the Christmas episodes on that show are really fun to watch. The Friends ones are really interesting and kind of tell a story about Phoebe if you watch it carefully. This year I kind of want to watch the Family Matters Christmas episodes because the Stevil episode that I watched at Halloween was so good... and there's an Urkel Christmas Animated Movie Coming out later this month that I'm sure I'm going to watch...
19) Netflix and Disney Plus Tv Specials-
While we're talking about this- I really like the specials that streaming services put out just for Christmas. Aggretsuko has one, Chilling Advnetures of Sabrina has one, there's the Guardians of The Galaxy Holiday special... there's a lot of great streaming holiday specials.
20) Love Hard
This is a really cute Christmas Rom Com! I don't think I've watched this for a few years but I really liked it! It's weird because Nina Dobrev was catfished into falling for the guy- but it's really sweet in the end and I liked it a lot!
21) Tokyo Godfathers-
So honestly- I haven't seen this but I'm going to watch it this year. My boyfriend bought it for us to watch together... so we'll watch it this year. I'm running out of movies that I've seen that I think belong on this list!
22) Violent Night
Okay... I feel like this should be earlier in the list because this isn't a must watch for me... but it is a good Christmas movie, it does have some Christmas magic in it... and I would recommend watching it at Christmas time. I watched it after Christmas last year and it was still good... but maybe I'll watch it at Christmas this year.
23) The Movies I Don't Watch that might be on someone's top list-
So I've never seen Miracle on 34th Street, I've seen White Christmas but not all of it... I might watch that this year. Holiday Inn I don't think I've seen.
Polar Express I really don't like at all and shouldn't be on this list... but some people tell me it's their favorite Christmas movie and I don't understand that lol.
I've never seen Die Hard- but again maybe I will this year.
Harold and Kumar Christmas shouldn't really be in a top list... but I do like that movie and would watch it again.
Jingle All The Way is an okay movie but it's hard for me to watch for some reason.
And I'll be Home for Christmas with Jonathan Taylor Thomas is pretty good- but I haven't watched it all that much.
24) A Christmas Story- I usually watch this at least once when they have the marathon on... there have been so many Christmas movies since this has been made that are funnier or just a little bit better- but I still like to watch this at least once.
25) It's a Wonderful Life- honestly I like watching this one earlier on during the season... but watching it on Christmas can be just as magical.
Okay- that is everything. I hope you guys like this list- it's been hard to write and it took me so long that... I should eat lunch now... lol.
Bye!
