Movie Monday: Ranking The Movies and Shows I watched in April
Okay so this was a pretty easy list. I watched 11 movies total and I have 3 tv shows to talk about! I’ll start with the tv shows cause they aren’t really ranked and then I’ll start from the best to worst cause my best list is good! Ohhh actually… there is a movie on the bottom of the list that I forgot I even watched… so yeah.
Tv I watched
Twin Peaks Season 2
So in Season 2 they solve the murder of Laura Palmer and… it kind of jumps the shark after that. There are way too many story lines and it just doesn’t work. There are some entertaining episodes still- but I’m glad it ended where it did.
Ghosts Us
I watched all 3 seasons of Ghosts and this is a solid show! I thought it was really funny. I’m trying to watch the UK version now and I’m not as into it- but it could be because it’s kind of just starting. Ghosts US is fun and a fun setting for sure!
Bluey: The Sign + other episodes
I had missed a lot of episodes in the latest season of Bluey I guess so I watched them again after watching The Sign Movie. I really liked the Cricket episode… but The Sign is definitely the best. It was great to see a huge Bluey event… the Heeler girls were all really funny and cute and it was such a nice conclusion to that season- even though it’s still going. I loved it!
Best Movies
Okay so the movies I saw were all really good… and I was unimpressed by a lot tbh at I saw… so you might be surprised as to what the top 5 are… but this is my list!
1) Dune Part 2
This is probably my favorite movie I’ve seen this year so far… and it was hard to top my number 2 on this list… but seeing this in theaters and in imax… it was just a great experience overall! I loved it!
2) The People’s Joker
Okay so this has a limited release right now but it is a Joker parody movie about the Trans experience- and I saw it in New York at the IFC center and there was a director Q&A and she was amazing and adorable in person. I loved the movie so much- It was really really fun!
3) Paddington-
I’m kind of cheating with this one cause technically I watched this the last day of March… but I’m going to count it because I really loved this movie and I’d love to watch this and Paddington 2. I was impressed with Paddington!
4) Leo- I’m talking more about this in a future Movie Monday but I was so impressed with this movie… this is a Netflix Animated Adam Sandler kids movie… but it feels like an adult movie too. This is sweet and has some good messages. This is important for young kids to watch I think.
5) King of Comedy
This is a classic Robert De Niro movie… I also like comedians so this is a good movie about comedians. I also finished watching this right after watching people’s joker so this was good overall. I need to watch this movie all in one sitting- but I loved it!
6) Wonka
This probably would have been higher on my list but I wasn’t paying much attention to it… still good but it’s not the best movie ever.
The bottom movies
7) Leprechaun in The Hood
You might be thinking “Shannon this movie is ranked a little bit high” but 1) I believe in leprechauns and this movie is not exactly how I think leprechauns exist- but it still did not disprove my theory 2) Warwick Davis is a treasure and he had fun being a villain in this movie and it shows. I have nothing bad to say about his performance at all- I think I’m going to try to watch 1 leprechaun movie a year. This wasn’t much of a horror movie though… but it is like a 2000’s music industry movie and I liked that part combined with the horror movie part.
8) Lisa Frankenstein
I didn’t like this that much. I was expecting something better and I was disappointed. I thought the performances were good, I can see why people like this movie but I didn’t.
9) Airheads
This is actually the first Adam Sandler movie I watched this month. It’s not bad- I didn’t know this was what the movie was about though. I liked seeing Adam Sandler, Brendan Fraser and Steve Buscemi all together though. And I love Brendan Fraser so this is a must watch for me… and I would watch it again.
10) Chupa
My niece loves this movie and she keeps asking to watch it. It’s not that good though- but the Chupacabra is cute. I just don’t think… anything really happens in this movie.
11) Focus
This is a Will Smith and Margot Robbie Crime movie… it’s not that entertaining. I think Margot Robbie’s acting skills have gotten better since this one.
This is Number 12. I feel uncomfortable saying the name of the movie so I’m just putting the poster here. I was really giving this movie the benefit of the doubt because I LOVE Justice Smith so much… but this just did not work. It has a kind of cool concept of like a black Harry Potter movie… but it’s a very boring Rom Com… and the whole concept just doesn’t really work at all. It’s very disappointing that this movie just wasn’t it at all. This is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. There are movies worse than this one… but this one was bad.
Alright- that’s everything! I hope you guys like this list!
Bye!
-Shannon
