Movie Monday: Kill Bill Volume 1 & 2 (with Spoilers)

Okay... so this is actually the first of the Tarantino Movies that my boyfriend and I watched... but after that we decided to watch them in order... then I wanted to see Django Unchained and I didn't want to save the Hateful 8 for last... so there's a chance we might not watch these in order... but I'm still going to post the reviews in order... I think. We haven't watched all the movies yet- but these are like the last ones we're up to chronologically.

I remember when these movies were released- I was too young to see them- but I heard the soundtrack from upstairs when my dad was watching it... and that's memorable. I went down to tell him something or give him food or something and it just happened to be at the time where someone's head was off- and I still remembered that. Just FYI it wasn't scary to me at the time- I was old enough to know it was fake and think it's kind of funny... but just a small section like the music and that scene being memorable just kind of shows how good this movie is.

And the characters really have a lot of depth even if they aren't in the movie all that long... Bill isn't even in the first movie but... I kind of like that. You get only Uma Thurman's character's perspective on who Bill is and the fact that he needs to die. And you only see her current perspective and nothing about her relationship with him at all. I think even her feelings sort of change when she actually goes to his house and... MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING you see him raising their daughter as a single dad... that kind of changes EVERYTHING. At the end right before... again MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING... she kills Bill... I think you see a change. And I think that is maybe why she kills him the way she does. She got the sword made in order to kill him, but she uses the move that their Teacher taught her and her only that killed him with her bare hands. No one knew she could do that... and he felt pride, love, regret, remorse... and everything when she did that... it was just kind of a beautiful ending.

These are both at the top of my list of Tarantino movies... but I have to say I liked the first movie more than the second one. The second one was very straightforward and it gave us a lot of details on the characters which I loved, but the first one was a little more mysterious and a lot more exciting in my opinion. I really like Lucy Liu and I think she did a great job in Part 1. The animated story in the beginning was really great... there was just a lot of really great action and I thought as great as part 2 was... my favorite was still part 1. The ending of Part 2 really made it great... plus it had some of the most iconic moments like The Lonely Grave of Paula Schultz... but it felt like something was missing and overall... I did kind of like the hate I felt for Bill in the first part.

Okay... that is everything. I hope you guys like this review... this was definitely a really great, really fun movie. I'm glad I watched it!

Bye!
