Movie Monday: Django Unchained

This might have been my favorite of all the movies... it's just so good and the characters are so good... and the SOUNDTRACK is so good! There are a few things I don't love about the movie... but overall it was really good.

This is kind of a buddy movie between Django and Schultz. Basically Django is a slave and Schultz- who hates slavery- buys him because he's a bounty hunter and needs Django to identify some men that he has a bounty on... so Django also becomes a bounty hunter... there is a montage of them bounty hunting and then they go to Candieland to find Django's wife Broomhilda played by Carrie Washington.

This movie... probably has the second hardest scene for me to watch in any of the Tarantino movies I've seen so far... and that is the fight to the death of the 2 slaves at the beginning of the movie. It was... almost as intense as the scene in Pulp Fiction where they shoot Mia with the Adrenaline... but it wasn't quite as intense. The way they pace it is really well too because you can see them fighting in the backround- but you don't really see the fight itself and how brutal it is... so it's almost harder to watch to me at least.

I was slightly disappointed in Leonardo Dicaprio's charactercharacters... he wasn't quite as good and as prominent as I thought he'd be... he was good and

he was a good villain but he wasn't really in the movie all that much... and (spoilers) his death was a little bit... bland. I thought he deserved worse. I'm also kind of glad it was Schultz that killed him but I wished it was Django... so there's that. I was also slightly disappointed in Broomhilda. I love Kerrie Washington and she was a good character... but I feel like a lot of the female characters in the movies fall short... and I think she was just a little underdeveloped

The action scene with Django at Candieland was great... and the movie just gets more and more action packed... It was really good. The end just kind of made the whole movie sooo much better. And it's one I keep thinking about and I really really like it.

Anyway I really like this movie a a lot... originally my favorite movie was Kill Bill Volume 1, then Kill Bill 2 followed by Pulp Fiction... This I feel like I like more than Kill Bill but less than Pulp Fiction... so that doesn't make sense to me either.

Anyway- I really like this movie!

Bye!
