Movie: Every 2023 movie release I’ve seen so far Ranked

Okay it's a little more than halfway through the year and I've seen 20 movies released this year... some in theaters- 3 not in theaters... ohhh wait... I forgot one... 21 movies and 4 not in theaters. Anyway im going to start with the 21st movie and then go from there. For the most part I've enjoyed all of these movies and 19 are ones I would actually buy on Blu Ray.

21. Evil Dead Rise

I recently watched Evil Dead 2 and 3 and they are very fun movies... this was basically just a possession movie and it wasn't that scary! So no. Not my favorite.

20. Cocaine Bear

I was disappointed in this one. I watched it on peacock- but I don't think I'd buy this one on Blu ray. Not worth the hype to me- and I didn't really want to see it after the trailer so I guess my insticts were right.

19. Knock at The Cabin

There is one theater at my movie theater that's really small and they usually play movies near the end of their run. I've dubbed this "the Morbius Theater" cause... obviously that's where they played Morbius. I think I saw this the last day it was in my theater too... on a weekday so yeah. I actually liked this one- but based on what I heard of the book it seems like wasted potential. Not a bad movie though.

18. Missing

I didn't see this in theaters- it is now on Netflix... but I actually really liked this movie! It's exciting and has a lot of twists.

17. Creed III

This was pretty good! I did buy this one cause I have creed 1&2 on dvd or Blu ray already. It's worth watching I liked it.

16, Elemental

This movie was a little weird and it's hard to tell my feelings about it... there's a lot of reasons why... but overall I did like the movie a lot it's just not as good as some of the other movies on the list.

15. Ant Man and The Wasp: Quantumania

This was fine but not my favorite of the Ant Man series and not the best Marvel Movie of the year so far.

14. Renfield

This was a fun movie and I did like it enough to own it. I was actually excited when the movie came out. It's fun to watch and I liked the characters- but I can understand why people might not.

13. The Haunted Mansion

Okay this is the most recent movie I've seen so... I don't know that it deserves to be this low on the list... I just don't want to rank it that highly compared to so many other movies I've had more times to process. Plus its #13 and that makes sense. I loved this I'll have a full review on it soon... but after watching it I was like "eh. I might never watch that again." Even though it was tons of fun and I loved the characters. This movie had the most distracting product placement I've ever seen in any movie and that kind of knocked it down a lot on this list.

12. Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny

This was a fun movie! It was also great to watch for your first Indiana Jones Movie- I don't think I would have seen it if I saw Crystal Skull first because that was bad.

11. The Little Mermaid

This movie just missed the top 10 because of CGI flounder. Just not my favorite CGI- and I feel bad because Halle Bailey's performance was great but... yeah.

10. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Pt 1

This was an exciting spy movie! One of my favorite spy movies maybe... really really good. 3 hours long but well paced!

9. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Theives

I feel like the Adventure movie is back- and I'm here for it! Great movie overall!

8. The Super Mario Movie

So this was fun because I saw it with a big group- even though we couldn't all sit together it was a lot of fun!

7. Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3

This is maybe my favorite marvel movie... at least of this phase- possibly since Endgame... unsure but this one is really good and worth watching even if you've been disappointed in Marvel lately!

6. M3Gan

It took me a while to figure out if I liked this more than Scream 6 or not... I think this one I didn't enjoy as much the second time I watched it and I'm possibly not that excited by the sequels this will have. They could be great- but who knows.

5. Scream VI

I was so excited for this movie and I really loved when I saw it. Idk if it's my favorite scream movie- but in the new series it is so far. It's probably in the top 3 for me.

4. Oppenheimer

Okay honestly I wasn't sure if I liked this or John Wick more... and I wasn't sure if I liked John Wick and Spider Man more than Barbie- so... you can tell the next 3 movies on this list are very close. This was a good movie and the Barbenheimer experience was one of the most fun of my life!

3. John Wick Chapter 4

On letterboxed I have Guardians ranked higher than this I think??? But this was actually a great action movie and I still think about it all the time today. Definitely one of the best of the year.

2. Across The Spider Verse

This was hard to top because this is the best Spider Man movie of all time and this is just a beautiful movie that's really fun to watch.

And the best movie of the year... is of corse- Barbie!

Barbie is obviously the movie of the year... it's one of the best movies of all time if not the best... and I'm just really excited to see this movie 100 more times.

So this is my list of the top 20 so far. This might not be the definitive list of movies of the year- but all of these are pretty great! The only one I really did not like and wouldn't watch again was Evil Dead Rise... but I know a lot of people liked that movie and that's fine too.

Overall 2023 was the best year for movies in my opinion in a really long time. I think you should check these movies out for sure... and I will probably do another ranking at the end of the year because I want to watch these movies again near the end of the year.
