May Diaries 6: How I Used To Read vs How I Read Now
Okay- so I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to read. The way I used to read made me happy and entertained- the way I read now makes me happy and entertained. As long as you enjoy it do whatever you want!
When I was a kid I used to only read in doctor’s offices or at school in our allotted reading time at the beginning of the day- and sometimes in classes before teachers got in or if they just gave us reading time. Sometimes I would read when I was at home- but mostly it was just something I did to pass time.
I had to finish a book one time for a book report and that’s kind of when I got more into reading at home. And the books that kind of got me into it were The Princess Diaries. Loved those books- I still reread them and I love them.
When I started reading The Hunger Games things were different to because I asked for the books for Christmas and I got them and I just read all day on Christmas and the whole weekend and usually I’d finish the book pretty quickly. That was really fun.
Now I usually read in the living room while the tv is on or I’ll read during commercial breaks. I sometimes like to have a break while I’m reading and not just sitting down and reading a whole book while nothing is on. So personally I like the streaming services with ads because I read during the ads.
And I like reading during my lunch break because then I’m not just scrolling through Instagram and TikTok for an hour. Plus it kind of relaxes me at work for the rest of the day. I like it.
Some books I can’t focus on if there’s something else going on. Daughter of The Moon Goddess is one of those books I need a lot of focus on… It’s been a while since I’ve read fantasy so I know I need a bit more Concentration with that for now at least.
For a while I would only read Manga on my lunch break- but lately I’ve been wanting to read more than Manga so I started reading books.
And yeah that’s it. I was just as happy reading just a little bit every once and a while- but I don’t know if I retained the books quite as well- and I probably lost or stopped reading a lot more back then.
See ya later!
