I’ve been reading a lot… here’s how I’ve been doing it

This might end up turning into a book Blog because I’ve been reading so so much lately. And I just kind of want to talk about when I read, where I read and what kind of got me into reading! There’s going to be a lot of book posts coming up soon… but this is kind of my intro to reading I guess.

How did I get into reading???

it actually kind of started with my TikTok obsession. I started seeing some of the Booktok videos and I wanted to read some of the books I saw on Booktok. I had just read A Witch’s Heart and I really liked it but I wanted to read a series cause It had been a while since I’ve read a series- and i wanted to read something similar to the Saw movies because I had just watched all of them and I loved them… so I heard about the Mindf*ck series and it was great!!! It was the perfect accompaniment to the Saw movies… I just really liked the story and the characters.

So I’ve been listening to more and more book recommendations and... I’m just excited to read.

How Do I Read?

So… lately I’ve been reading 2 books at once. One book I’ll read at home. If the book is really big or if it’s kind of hard to read at work… or if it’s really spicy or something I’ll leave it at home and I’ll bring an easy romance book or a YA Book to work and read the other book at home. And I kind of switch it up if I get closer to the one book.

I tried reading Song of Achilles at work and it just didn’t work so I ended up putting The Love Hypothesis in my bag to read at lunch- and then I got more into that and finished it and I actually DNFed (did not finish) Song of Achilles- but I think I’m going to go back on it after reading The Iliad maybe.

Right now at home I’m reading Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover and it’s a heavier spicier book so I’m reading that at home and I have been reading the YA easy read book The Inheritance Games on my hour long lunch break at work. I’m almost done with Ugly Love- and I was going to start reading Inheritance Games at home… but I think I might start People We Meet on Vacation at home first... idk why I think it’ll be fun though.

So I have one “purse book” and one “home book” lol.

When do I read?

So lately I’ve been reading a lot. I read on my lunch break, I read during commercial breaks of shows or in boring parts of shows. If I wake up early and can’t get back to bed- I’ll read. usually when I take a bath- I’ll read too… and then Ill finish reading after. Sometimes I read in the car when someone else is driving… and usually I’ll read before bed/ after getting home from work.

What Books Do I Like Reading?

Honestly- I’ll read just about any type of book. I think I realize now- nonfiction is not my favorite… but I still want to push myself to read some. I love Romance books… rom coms are really fun. I am just now finishing Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover and I LOVE her writing style… but I’m a little frustrated at the characters. I love Thrillers and horror books too. YA books are usually fun to read too and very easy to get through.

I’m also trying to branch out a little with the books and Authors I read. A lot of books I have been reading lately are from White, British Female Authors... so really I know I need to diversify a little bit. I’m really loving that I’m seeing more popular YA books that seem to have more diverse characters. I’ve bought Cemetery Boys, White Smoke, and Legendborn recently and I’m really excited to read those.

What Have I Read So Far?

So far I’ve finished The Witch’s Heart- which I’ve already reviewed. I read all 5 books in the Mindf*ck Series- which I LOVED. Those were such quick reads. I also finished The Love Hypothesis- which I thought was really cute and funny… and I’m almost done with Ugly Love… which is a great book but I’m frustrated with it. It’s a really quick read also.
