Foodie Tuesday: Hibachi Loves

Okay... so Hibachi is awesome. I went for the first time since the pandemic recently. We had a semi surprise party for my friend at kind of a fancier hibachi place near me and it was really really good. Definitely the best Hibachi I've had recently... and I don't want to specifically talk about too many actual places... but I'll talk about what I like, what I kinda don't like, the different experiences.

I will say- the one time my boyfriend and I went to Arriang years ago was probably the worst experience I've had as far as hibachi goes. I've never gone to Benihana so this was my only experience with a hibachi chain I guess... and it was bad. First off: Most local hibachi places I go to come with the noodles and the rice... this place you needed to pay extra for the rice and... they didn't give us a whole lot of rice to begin with. We also had a chef that kind of had an off day I think. There was another chef nearby that had SUCH a great personality- and it was kind of hard to watch him with the other table and we just have this one guy that doesn't seem too enthused as our chef. The food was okay but not great and it was kind of not worth the price. And I felt bad because that was his special meal for getting into his college back when he was transferring from Community College... so I felt really bad that he kind of didn't love it... and we didn't go back.

But with my good experiences like the other night... all the chefs were really good and seemed to be having a lot of fun. He was just a cool, funny guy. He had better puns than most hibachi chefs to be honest.

I usually order the Hibachi Steak and this time I got a non alcoholic pina colada. I could have gotten the alcoholic version- but when I was a kid I always got the non alcoholic ones and I kind of felt like a kid that night... so that's what I ordered. It was a little too sweet without the rum... I'll probably just get an alcoholic one next time... but that was fun for nostalgia sake. Plus I didn't get a headache. Next time I might order seafood and steak though because... I like that the seafood comes out first and then the steak... so it seems like a nice thing to eat while waiting for steak. Also my boyfriend got a flavored steak and that was really really good.

I also love dipping things in sauces... so the fact that we get 2 sauces is just... awesome. The ginger sauce at this place was particularly good so I dipped just about every vegetable and every piece of steak in it. It was so so good. I liked the mustard sauce a lot too... but that ginger sauce was so good.

And a lot of times I just CRAVE the salad dressing that they give with their salads before the show starts. It's just... really good. My friend said they have it at Trader Joe's... I might have to pick that up sometime because I like it. Or learn how to make it or something. It's really nice and flavorful.

So overall... hibachi is always fun for a special occasion. Or just a date night, or a night out with friends. Its hard to have a conversation at... but it's really really fun overall... and I just really like it!

Alright... I just needed to talk about Hibachi!

Bye!
