December Adventure Week: Traveling to Philadelphia
Okay- so I’ve got a weekend filled with adventures… so I’m going to be taking a few posts to talk about my short trip to Philly to see They Might be Giants. I’ll probably do a few posts about everything… there were some adventures… and some funny stories so… yeah.
My boyfriend and I were going to see They Might Be Giants at Union Transfer. We had seen them a few years ago in January at the same venue… so we kind of learned from our experience last time and… we planned differently this year.
The last time we went- we had gone from the Long Branch train station and transferred at Trenton to go to the Philadelphia station. My boyfriend actually lives in Trenton now- so that made it a little bit easier- we just went right to the Trenton train station and went to Philly from there. This isn’t that difficult to do- but there aren’t all that many trains going from Trenton to Philly… so when we missed one train we had to wait like an hour to get the next train and… it was like 1 every hour. Maybe I’m wrong but I feel like that’s not a whole lot- plus there were a lot of delays with the weather- so if we were going further in Pennsylvania- we probably wouldn’t have been able to go by train.
The train itself took about an hour… and then we tried using Philly’s subways for transit… but we weren’t familiar with it so we kind of relied on Ride Share services… which ended up being somewhat of a mistake because we got a shady driver… which I may or may not have a whole post for… it was definitely the most interesting part of the trip but also the most terrifying lol. But everywhere we were going we were able to get from relatively inexpensive rides from ride share services and… it was very quick and easy. So if you don’t have the patience for a subway- ride share services are convenient but there are some bad sides to them too.
Anyway the Train was easy- I like the Septa trains compared to NJ Transit and we got everywhere we needed to go.
We also decided to get a hotel room for the night because we didn’t want to take the train late the night of and I was able to book a hotel with my Credit Card points- so that’s what we decided to do and… that’s what I’ll talk about in my next post!
Bye!
