Can I Solve It? Only Murders in The Building Season 4 Episode 8 Recap
Okay we’ve got 2 more episodes to go and I do not know what to think with this one! I was off this week so I ended up watching this episode 3 times! Here’s what I thought.
So this episode I think is to try to exonerate the Westies from killing Professor Dudenoff and Sazz Pataki… but does it really? I’m not quite sure- there are still some things I found a little suspicious about the interactions… but ultimately I don’t really think it was any of them… but I’m not sure I’d rule them out.
Credit Clues 🕵🏼
Okay so this weeks opening credit clue was hard to notice but the lights lighting up the arconia went out in the opening animation.
The end credit clues show Mean, Cold Meat and the Brazzos poster from Charles’s apartment in the movie and we see the Eva Longoria 11 in one multi tool that recorded the Westies confession… so that was interesting.
So in this episode the trio is pretty sure the westies killed Professor Dudenoff and they must have killed Sazz to cover it up… so they invite the Westies over to play Oh Hell at Oliver’s apartment with the Hollywood Counterparts. They figure the Westies will want to hang out with the celebrities and they would come over… but the Westies knew it was an ambush right away and took control to make sure the trio knew they were innocent.
So we didn’t learn anything about Sazz until the end of the episode- but we did learn about Professor Dudenoff. He was a lonely film professor who missed his deceased wife. They lived together in the West Tower of the Arconia and they would rent the other apartments because of his wife’s job… which I forget why… but when she passed away he didn’t want to get rid of them which is why he sublet the rooms to people that he liked, The Sauce family owned a restaurant he and his wife went to often, Vince Fish was also a widower who took Dudenoffs class thinking that his wife would want him to do that… and Rudy was a very talented actor in his class.
Then we get what Eva Longoria explains is a Ding Dong… a ring at the doorbell from a character connected to the group who can push the plot forward while they’re at a standstill. I love when tv shows reference tv making…
Anyway it’s Helga- Hammy Faye Barkers owner and the person we’ve talked to on the ham radio. She is not Rudy’s ex girlfriend- she actually lived in the west tower of the Arconia and was friends with Dudenoff because he reminded her of her late father. She was a locksmith that helped him put a code on his door because he was always losing his keys- he always forgot to carry them and his wife would let him into the apartment.
So we end up finding out Dudenoff was very sick and he ended up taking a lot of medications to end his life. He told his friends from the west tower to put his body in the incinerator and to keep on cashing his social security checks and keep their apartments in the arconia. He didn’t want to tell Helga because she had already lost her father- he didn’t want her to lose someone else.
Helga moves back into the Arconia after that, she gets her pig back from Howard… and she lets the Trio know that she talked to Sazz on the Ham Radio and that Sazz mentioned someone she worked with on another movie that was really annoying and said “this person will be the death of me” and at the very end… it seems like that person could be none other than Glen Stubbins…
Do I think it’s Glen? Not really… it could also be Marshall P Pope, Bev Melon or the Brothers Sisters- it might not have been another stunt double… helga might have just assumed it was? Or it could be someone else we saw at the stunt person bar… idk.
There was also a throwaway line about Gut Milk- maybe to remind the audience of Ursula and some of the characters from season 1… so that was interesting.
I’m still not ruling out the Westies. I found it a little weird that they crossed Helga out of the picture of them even though there wasn’t really a falling out between them and Helga… Helga just felt like they were hiding something big and with Dudenoff missing she didn’t really trust them.
Could it be Helga and then she goes to jail so Howard can get the pig back? I’m not sure… she does know the passcode to the Dudenoff apartment so… there’s that.
I hope you guys like this recap- it’s a bit late because it was my birthday yesterday- so I was a little too busy to write it!
Bye!
