Alright here’s the box office roundup and I’ll probably talk about some other entertainment roundups too!
1) Flight Risk 12 million Weekend Gross 12 million total gross
Okay- this was my most anticipated movie for January and I saw it and enjoyed it. There were quite a few people in the audience too- it’s not the best movie that’s ever been made- but it was still a fun movie to watch! This was its first week at the box office. 12 million is what the number 1 movie made last week so it’s still not the biggest week- but I’m glad some more new movies are coming out!
2) Mufasa: The Lion King 8.7 Million Weekend Gross 221Million Total Gross
Okay in its 6th week Mufasa is still going strong- it was number 2 last weekend with 12 million- so it didn’t make quite as much this week… but I can still see why it’s number 2. A lot of schools had off for Martin Luther King Day- it’s usually pretty busy at the box office those days… especially family movies.
3) One Of Them Days 8 million Weekend Gross 25 million total gross
Okay last weeks number one movie fell down a couple places but still grossed pretty well overall. I haven’t heard many people talk about this one- but it seems like a fun movie.
4) Sonic The Hedgehog 3 5.5 million Weekend Gross 226Million Total
Sonic is also still holding strong at number 4 in its sixth week. I’ve heard this is a really great sonic movie! I know it just released digitally- so I will probably see it soon. It’s not on paramount plus yet but I’m excited for it. It looks really good!
5) Moana 2 4.3 million weekend gross 450 Million Total
This has been out for 9 weeks and it’s still doing well! And my niece and her friends loved this one- my sister (nieces mom) thought it was okay… so I’m waiting till it’s on Disney Plus… but excited for it to go on Disney Plus because I really like Moana!
6) Presence 3.4 million weekend and total gross
Okay this is another horror movie that just debuted… I didn’t hear anything about it before it came out- but I love horror and I like Lucy Liu- fun fact: my friend saw her at Whole Foods and she had blonde hair- which she later debuted at an awards show… but I knew she really debuted it at that Whole Foods my friend used to work at!
7) Wolf Man 3.4 Million Weekend Gross 18 million total Gross
Yeah I don’t think this movies going to do much better than this. I saw it and I was excited for it but I think anyone waiting to hear how this movie was before seeing it… might not be seeing it. It’s not really worth it… but it’s not awful.
8) A Complete Unknown 3.1 million weekend gross 63 million total gross
Alright this one’s been doing pretty well. I’m going to guess this one might climb up the charts the more Oscar buzz this one gets. Fun fact: if Timothee Chalamet wins the Oscar for this one he will be the youngest oscar winner for best actor.
9) Den of Theives 2:Pantera 3million weekend gross 32 Million Total Gross
I never heard of Den of Theives 1- but this debuted at number 1 3 weeks ago when it came out… and it’s still on the charts.
10) The Brutalist 2.9 Million Weekend Gross 9.3 Million Total
I’ve heard more buzz about this since it’s been Oscar nominated for best actor and best picture. It’s been out for 6 weeks now and it hasn’t been on the charts this year so far- I’m not sure if it did at the end of 2024 or not… but I imagine it can climb back up the charts. Also fun fact: Adrien Brody is the current youngest winner of a Best Actor Oscar and is also nominated again for this role.
Overall I’m excited to see things this week. Yesterday was a Scream Unseen preview movie… which I saw at this point- I haven’t seen it at the time I’m writing it… but I’m thinking it might be Companion… possibly Heart Eyes but I really think it’s going to be Companion because it releases this week.
This Weeks New Releases
Okay so as I’ve said Companion releases Friday- I may have a review on that on Movie Monday. The Dog Man movie is also releasing this week- I’m excited to see how that holds up to the family movies currently on the charts- wondering if it can push out Mufasa, Moana or Sonic. I also kind of want to see this one… but I don’t know much about the Dog Man or Captain Underpants Books. And the other movie I’ve heard of is Love Me with Kristin Stewart and Steven Yeun.
Television
Okay so Monday Grant’s season of the bachelor started!!! I’m really excited about seeing Grant… Grant is pretty cute and I liked him on Jenn’s season.
On Thursday all my CBS shows are back and I really like them! Ghosts, Matlock and Elsbeth!
I’m hoping there’s another new Abbot Elementary this week and I know High Potential looked really good. My moms been saying Will Trent has been good this year too but I haven’t watched it yet- I was going to read one of the books first… but I might want to watch the show first.
Music
A song I heard that’s new on my radio station at least is Guess by Charlie Xcx and featuring Billie Eilish. Really liked this song and I’ve gotta listen to it again- their voices together are sooooo good.
I also see on Apple Music that The Maine released an album on the 14th- I’ve seen them as an opening band for someone… I think they were at 6 flags with Metro Station or something? I liked Them! And I saw Matt Kearney has a new release that’s not on Apple Music yet. I haven’t heard his name in a while so that’s cool.
And that is everything for this week! I hope you guys like this!
Bye!
