Black Widow Movie Review
Alright! I’m so excited because I Finally went to the actual movie theater and saw Black Widow! It was the first time in over a year that I went to a movie theater. I think the last movie I saw in theaters was Onward just a week or so before the shutdown.
I’m still a little iffy going to the movie theaters- I get a little paranoid going out during flu season- let alone now… but we went on a Monday afternoon and there were like less than 10 people in the theater. And it was inexpensive- so that was good.
Anyway- I thought the movie was pretty good. There were some things that felt a little off in the movie… but in general- I kind of liked the family dynamic between Natasha and her adopted family. There was kind of a lot of action in the movie that was good. Overall I didn’t think it was the worst Marvel Movie- but it wasn’t my favorite either.
I think it was my boyfriends least favorite Marvel movie. We both fell asleep - he actually fell asleep and I kinda closed my eyes at one part and was able to actually wake up. We were both EXHAUSTED but he was a little more exhausted than me.
The plot of the film seemed a little weird. It seemed like a sequel almost. Also- it’s been a while since I’ve seen Civil War and Infinity War… but I don’t remember Natasha switching sides for Captain America’s side… I would have liked a bit more background for that. It didn’t really feel like it was as important as it should have been even. I feel like they just needed her running from the law- so they shoehorned it in.
There were some jokes that also… didn’t really work at all in the movie. Yelena jokes about the Black Widow fighting pose and she calls her a poser… and it’s just kind of… bad. Natasha gave her life to save the world from Thanos (sure not yet as far as this goes… but she was probably the bravest avenger anyway.) No one should be calling her a poser! Not even her sister. Idk it just felt odd.
I’m glad that we got some insight into why she dyed her hair in Infinity War and Endgame... I feel like that was just a good detail I guess.
OHHHH and the other thing I kind of… didn’t love. The intro was weird cause there was a strong intro with the family- and then there was a theme song montage… and it just felt like this should have just been a Disney Plus movie. The end credits scene also felt very Disney Plus... which is fine but also… idk. I feel like they could have done a series on this like Wandavision and it might be a little more interesting and they might need to do more. Idk if Scarlett Johansson would go for that… but The Disney Plus shows are so so so good!
So yeah. If I were to grade this I’d give it a B-.… maybe a C+. Not the best or the worst. Worth a watch but I don’t know if it’s one I’d watch often the way I can watch something like Infinity War or Thor Ragnarock- or even Wandavision.
Bye! -Shannon
