A Cozy Stay at The Cabot Lodge

When my boyfriend and I were trying to find places to stay in or near Boston- we found one that stood out: The Cabot Lodge in Beverly Massachusetts. It looked like a sleek, cozy hotel that was close enough to the city for us to get to easily- but far enough removed so that we didn't have to stay right in the hustle and bustle of the city. Also had a couple of bonuses: Beverly itself is w really cool town, and it's just one quick train ride away from Salem.

The room itself is small but comfortable. It feels like a more luxury lodge, the design itself is very stylish and it's just pretty. The bathroom has glass doors that open in and out- but they are opaque doors- so you won't see anyone in the shower- but if someone's sitting on the toilet you'll probably see them. Idk if I would recommend this for newer couples- but if you're very comfortable around each other and don't mind seeing when a person is on a toilet it's fine lol.

The hotel itself has a common area which does make it a little bit loud... it kind of feels like people can hear what you're doing and you can hear people walking in the common area and to their rooms and stuff. It isn't really that bad and the beds themselves are very quiet and cushiony- so if you toss and turn it won't be like the whole hotel hears it.

The town of Beverly is a great place to stay also- and I kind of wished we stayed longer so we could explore it a bit more. We went to some of the restaurants and cafes but we left too early in the morning to explore the shops and came back just after they closed- so that was a bit of a bummer... but I'm happy we got to do more of the touristy things around Boston and Salem instead.

It's also very easy to walk everywhere from the hotel. There are lots of bars and restaurants nearby- so it's nice to have a couple of drinks and then head back to the hotel right away.

They also have a free water machine and tea for their guests, they provide umbrellas if you need one for the day, and there are lots of places with discounts and deals. Plus a lot of tour guides for Massachusetts.

The only thing that was a bit tricky is that there isn't really anyone at the front desk for a lot of the day. I think they come in for check out- check in but sometimes we didn't see anyone before we left for the day and they were gone by the time we came back. They also don't do room service every day- you can request a room cleaning at the front desk- and they'll restock anything you need but you need to ask before they come in to do cleaning at check out.

The room keys were also a little difficult. They give you a digital room key- but some people were having trouble with that and only one person can use the digital key. They do have a physical key- but that key is in the room itself so- you need to get in the room first to get that. There were some guests we saw that had trouble with the key and it was too late in the day for the front desk. There's a number you can call- I'm guessing people live nearby or on premises that can help you but it is a little difficult. There is a number to call for help- but we didn't have to use it.

It's a very hands off hotel- which I guess is more like a traditional lodge in that fashion- but they do provide just about everything you'd need for your stay. They even bring seltzer and snacks- which is nice too.

The tv was also something we didn't really take advantage of- we don't usually watch regular tv so we opted to watch movies on my boyfriend's iPad instead.

Overall I loved this hotel- I would love to go back there sometime and if you're thinking of going to Massachusetts at all- I would definitely recommend it.

Bye!

-Shannon
