A Biased Semi Review of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3
So I feel like I can't do an impartial review of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3. This movie was like made for me and there's no way I could give you guys an unbiased opinion on it. I had a good time watching the movie, there were some great characters, some funny lines and some sweet moments... but it did kind of loose some of the heart that the other 2 movies had because the focus of the movie wasn't really about Toula and Ian- and the family we all know and love wasn't really even in the movie that much.
There were so many plots going on in this movie- I feel like it could have been split up into several different movies and the characters all had arcs- but they maybe weren't as strong as in the first movie. I would have loved to see Nick as a struggling artist because that was set up in the first movie with him trying to design the new menus. Instead we got some gross out humor with him... and he kind of acted like a man child throughout the movie... so it wasn't the best.
I think one of the standouts to this movie was John Corbett. He was really funny and any time he was on the screen I thought he gave it his all- I think he was excited to do the movie again because he is great friends with Nia Vardalos in real life... and overall they gave him a lot of great moments in this movie.
Another character I really liked was Victory- the non binary mayor of the town Gus grew up in- which is where they all visit. Not only was Victory really funny- Victory is almost the main character. They kind of carry the heart of the movie. Plus they are connected to everyone in the town- they sent out the invitation to Toula and her family. Victory does a lot of the work in the movie and I hope Mel Kotselu- the actor that plays Victory- gets more roles from this. I would watch them in anything.
Overall this movie isn't for everyone and I don't know if I could 100% recommend it or say it was a good movie... but I did enjoy it. I will say if you have a friend that can laugh at movies and enjoy silly movies- bring them with you! I knew this movie might not be the best and I might be disappointed so I brought my boyfriend and my best friend- who was definitely laughing the loudest and commenting in the movie and it made it a lot better. I don't know if I would have liked this movie as much as I did if I hadn't seen it with her lol.
Also we went to the Jersey Shore Greek Festival right after and that was great! It was perfect that they both happened the same weekend!
