24 Best Things I Watched in 2024
Okay- so 2024 was the year of watching things. I started watching a lot of sitcoms and I saw a lot of movies I’ve always wanted to watch but never have… and it was just a good year to watch things! No order- and there might be other things I couldn’t think of… but this is basically it.
1.Wicked
Okay- this is one of my favorite movies ever. The Wicked Movie was finally released and it was amazing- definitely worth the wait. I feel like all the songs were amazing, the cast was amazing and all the little changes they made from the play were really great. Definitely loved this one a lot! Highly recommend!
2. My Cousin Vinny
I had never seen My Cousin Vinny before like May of this year! Can you believe it!?! I really liked it- it’s such a funny movie and it kind of just starts right away. Worth watching for sure!
3. Twin Peaks
I just started watching Twin Peaks this year- the original series was definitely my favorite… the return kind of grew on me too. My sister had always loved this show but it was on before I was born… but it’s great. If you like drama and spooky things… this is a good one! This was also created by David Lynch and I watched a lot of David Lynch movies this year… so you’ll see a lot of David Lynch on this list.
4. Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
This is the best movie of all time… and it’s probably the scariest movie I’ve ever seen. It was not well received at the time- but it’s a perfect companion to twin peaks and it’s such a great movie and it is really scary! This is a prequel to the events of twin peaks… and it’s really good!
5. Seinfeld
Alright as I mentioned- I watched a lot of sitcoms this year and one of the most fun ones I watched was Seinfeld. I actually watched the episodes randomly by spinning a wheel- which was really fun. The first few seasons are not that good- so it’s a little bit better to randomize it so that you aren’t watching all from the same seasons at the same time.
6. Mr. And Mrs. Smith
This was probably the best new show this year… I love spy movies and shows and I love Donald Glover in this a lot. I thought this was a really great take on the classic story. I am excited for the new season whenever it comes out- even if they have new characters… I also really liked the ending of this. It was a great mini series.
7. Deadpool and Wolverine
I was really surprised at this one! It was so funny and the action was really great! I saw this with my parents and my boyfriend too because they both like the Deadpool movies too. It was my favorite Deadpool movie so far!
8. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
I was so surprised by how great this movie was! I was really excited to see it because I like Beetlejuice so much but I never expected this sequel to be able to hold up to the original movie… and I have to say it was just as good! I really liked watching it!
9. The Straight Story
This was another David Lynch movie that I really liked. It’s about a man that travels across the country on a lawnmower to see his brother who had had a stroke. It’s a really sweet movie and it’s just a good one! I liked it a lot!
10. Nosferatu
Okay I just watched this one a few days ago but I really liked the new Robert Eggers Nosferatu. I love Dracula and any vampire movie- so it just makes sense that this one was really good. I would definitely see it in theaters- the audience I saw this movie with was really fun.
11. Classic Monsters Movies-okay Nosferatu was not the only vampire movie I saw this year… I also watched a lot of Classic Monster Movies and I liked pretty much all of them. Frankenstein I watched last year I think… or maybe I watched it early on this year- either way I definitely recommend watching them. I didn’t like The Mummy that much- but I would still say to check it out if you can. These are also horror movies that aren’t too scary- so you could probably watch them with anyone. I watched Dracula with my nana and she seemed to like it. My dog even could see the black and white… which was great! Great movies to check out.
12. Modern Family
I really loved watching this all the way through! I’ve seen most every episode before but I never saw all of them from the beginning before. This was a really fun watch… it’s such a funny show and it never got old. I think when it was on there was one season I didn’t really like but this time watching it through I had a lot of fun and I really liked it!
13. Brooklyn 99
This was probably just as good as Modern Family- but it might be a little funnier most of the time. The characters are so so good. I had never seen most of this show- and this time watching it through was really good!
14. Superstore
If you’ve ever worked retail- this show is for you! It’s really funny and everything is really accurate to things in real life! The finale of this was also one of the more memorable finales- the show could have went on for way longer- but I’m glad it ended when it did and it ended on a high note. Everything wrapped up really nicely and they could do something more with it if they want to… but I’m happy with it how it is!
15. Dune Part 2
This was a surprise to me because I liked the first Dune but I didn’t love it… but Part 2 was so so good. I’m pretty much sold on Timothee Chalamet being an amazing actor… so I’d watch him in just about anything. Really liked this one and I’m excited for Dune Messiah.
16. Blue Velvet
Another David Lynch favorite. Kyle McClaughlin, Laura Dern and Isabella Rosalini… so great! This was a good suspenseful mystery movie… and it was a little weird but it’s worth watching.
17. The Wizard of Oz
This was a fun movie to rewatch after watching Wicked… and it is probably the best movie of all time… and for a reason. Its The Wizard of Oz- what else can I really say about it?
18. The Parent Trap
This was another rewatch but I watched it with my niece and it was so funny… and it’s really funny to see her giggling and her reactions to things. My niece also really likes Lindsay Lohan and I do too so… we have a Lindsay Lohan chant lol.
19. The Coffee Table
This one is one that I don’t think everyone will like… but it’s kind of a thriller… it’s a hard watch but worth watching the full thing. Its about a couple with a newborn son and they buy a glass coffee table… and this is why I will never buy a glass coffee table or any sort of glass thing.
The movie is also from Spain and it’s subtitled for English.
20. The Penguin
The best and worst Batman things were released the same year… and that’s crazy. Joker 2 was definitely the worst… actually the first Suicide Squad might have been worse for me… but anyway The Penguin was amazing. Colin Firth and Cristin Miloti were perfect and the writing was really great. The scene with young Oswald and his brothers… and it being so late in the series was just totally perfect for the show. I loved this show!
21. Only Murders In The Building Season 4
Okay- season 4 of Only Murders In The Building was the best season yet! The mystery was really good- the killer was really scary and all the special guests and returning characters were great!
22. Bad Sisters Season 2
I kind of have mixed feelings about this season and I will probably do a full post on this alone… but it didn’t need a season 2… but I liked seeing the sisters again and I liked all the new characters. Fiona Shaw was really great. I don’t think they should have The Garvey sisters come back for another season because they wrapped it up so nicely I think it would be unrealistic if they had another season with them… but I liked it a lot!
23. The People’s Joker
This I saw with a director Q&A and it was great! This was another great Batman movie that came out this year that was made during Covid and it’s a trans joker parody… with a really good ending. This was a fun movie and I totally recommend it.
24. Bob’s Burgers
And last but not least… bobs burgers! My current obsession- I haven’t watched all of it but I love it!
That’s everything! Let me know your favorites of the year!
Bye!
