13 Days of Blogoween: Silence of The Lambs

I‘m a little surprised … but I’ve never actually watched this movie until now! I know right? I watched different scenes in my film class but never the full thing.

So… I also just started watching the show Hannibal- which is really good but a lot sillier than the movie. The funny thing is- you can tell Hannibal got a lot from The X Files and you can tell The X Files got a lot from The Silence of The Lambs… so theres a lot that this movie has influenced.

The relationship between Clarice and Hannibal is so strange and interesting. It really made this movie sooo much better. Plus Hannibal is just interesting in general because even though he’s a horrible cannibal… he’s not the WORST person in the movie. In fact- I thought there was some catharsis at the end when he says ”I’m going to have an old friend for dinner” and you see him following the warden from the prison… cause he’s the reason hannibal escaped in the first place so… it makes sense.

Buffalo Bill is also an interesting character and Hannibal’s knowledge of him is very interesting. I… think some of his character could be seen as transphobic by today’s standards… but Clarice does call Hannibal Lector out for a transphobic assumption about Buffalo Bill... so… there’s that.

Clarice is also a really interesting character. She‘s not lol even a graduated FBI Agent yet and she’s still the smartest in the class and overall she does a great job. I got the criterion collection disk which was on sale at Amazon… it’s really good. The sound is amazing- the quality of the picture is great. Overall it’s just a really good Blu Ray and I’m happy I got it!

OHHHH speaking of DVDS and Blu Rays- I should mention that I did get the DVD of Censor- which I reviewed yesterday… BUT the dvd didn’t have subtitles so we watched it on Hulu instead. just a heads up… it’s worth owning because it’s a good movie- but it’s also Not worth it because of the subtitles. Ugh.
