13 Days of Blogoween: Only Murders In The Building Review
Alright... not necessarily Halloween... but I feel like Fall/ October and Halloween time are a good time to watch Mysteries... so I'm going to review this for Blogoween because it just had its finale and... I really loved the show and would highly recommend it.
I have to say first of all... I did not see the end of this one coming. Plus there are really more than one murder in the building... so I did get one thing right... kind of. I didn't think the Dimas's killed Tim Kono even though they had a fake jewelry ring that they were using Tim Kono for. Maybe I just didn't want the Greeks to be the killers because I'm Greek... but they were killers anyway so... who knows.
I have to say- this show was very clever. It had three main characters- all who were kind of suspicious... but you were also kind of rooting for. Martin Short played Oliver- a Broadway Producer who was down on his luck, Steve Martin was Charles Haden Savage- an actor on a law show that aired years ago, and Selena Gomez is Mabel- a young girl who loves solving mysteries and has grown up visiting her aunt in the building and knows a lot of the people in the building... but doesn't let anyone know that right away.
They all meet when their building is evacuated while they are all enjoying a Murder Podcast- so they all quickly become friends and bond over the podcast and then they find out someone died in their building from suicide... but they don't believe its suicide and they decide to investigate and do their own podcast.
There are so many moments where you think you find the killer and then it turns out its someone else. There's a really brilliant silent episode told from the perspective of the deaf son of the Dimas family. There's a cameo of Jane Lynch as Charles' stunt double... they just do so many good things and the mystery really keeps you hooked and all the characters are really great... but you are really laughing and having a good time when you're watching it. It really is a nice show with some great actors who have great chemistry together.
The show also just looks really good. The fashion and set design are really nice and the music is really great too. It's just... a fun show all around and I cannot wait for season 2. It is worth the Hulu subscription... that my boyfriend has lol.
Bye!
